Hidden cargo hold...

I talking to my co-worker about this game and the recent update. I have not played this game for sometime now because I found Evochron Lagacy. Anyways, I have seen many people asking for a place to store the loot for the Engineers stuff. Maybe some day Elite will be able to do this but what if the ship had a hidden cargo hold that you could at least store some of your goods. Pirates and Space police can't detect what is in that hold giving you a little chance to smuggle something or store your goods safely and hidden from detection. Tell me what you think.

Actually that's a really good idea. An engineer mod for cargo holds that blocks cargo scanners. Maybe at the expense of additional mass and/or reduced capacity.

I think completely blocking cargo scanners would make smuggling far too easy. How about halving the range at which your cargo can be scanned, possibly with it reading as empty if they aren't close enough to defeat it?

Even better.

It would definitely have to be well balanced-maybe half the normal range for cargo scans and/or double the time needed to scan it. Maybe there is an engineer out there that we haven't met yet who already makes these kinds of upgrades.
