Hide Cockpit to see more beautiful space and surroundings

I´d love to see more space or planetary surface while the view ist not blocked by the cockpit. Thinking of a camera, installed in the front of your ship to enable a new view to switch to. With the HUD still in place this could be a totally new experience in flying and fighting.
For example, this is a feature in the X games by egosoft which i really enjoy.

Sounds like the vanity camera, which is already in-game

I,m not talking about the 3rd person view or free camera mode.
It's about getting rid of the solid parts of the cockpit an the interiors - as an option... like sitting in a glass-bubble cockpit and keeping the hud.
