High CZ: SLF NPC Crew - How do I make her shut up?

Does anyone know--in case I had overlooked a setting--how to make my NPC Crew pilot shut up or at least tone down the hysterical, second-by-second ceaseless voice comms? It's annoying the heck out of me in High Intensity CZ situations.

Aside from not using or equipping Fighter bays, the overactive voice acting is ridiculously overdone. If it's "telepresence" the script should be more consistent with today's remote UAS operators, instead of pretending to be flying an actual fighter and being actually blown up when the fighter gets destroyed.

I would be just as happy to turn off the NPC voice traffic altogether, if it's not too much to ask.

Also, does anyone else having performance issues--2.2.03 not 2.3 Beta build--during peak intensity sequences? Game starts to stutter, then hour glass before black screen with the soundtrack continue to play in the background.

Funny, I was in a CZ earlier and thought "my pilot hasn't said a word in like 5 minutes, did his SLF get destroyed?"
I looked over to see he was still flying, about 30 seconds later "Got another one cmdr". Definitely the longest he has ever shut up.

But to answer your question no, I don't think there's a way to mute them (am Xbox player so maybe there is an option for PC).

Right I'm not being funny but I've found myself talking back to my NPC, and even saying "well done" at the end of a session when I see their rank increase. Is this a "problem" anybody else has?

My big issue is how they clog the comms window with written versions of all their messages and spam out communications from actual players. I can't imagine how annoying it's going to be once 2.3 goes live and every message starts taking up twice the space for the sake of showing off character portraits.

I tend to agree about the scripting/acting as well. Especially since they're controlling the SLF remotely, but even if they were physically in the fighter it doesn't feel believable to have a pilot transmitting inane chatter in high risk situations. Although at the end of the day I can understand the theme they're trying to achieve and live with it.

A couple of weeks ago in a crowded CZ I had audio stutters, which escalated to full stutters of several seconds, which escalated to a black screen I had to taskkill out of. Hasn't happened again since then though.

I think you got a PMS pilot, mine only gives me short comments and that is it!

"Things got a bit dicey there for a second!" she says, after I obliterate a shieldless Eagle in 5 seconds flat. (NPC pirate suffering from "Skyrim Rusty Dagger Bandit" syndrome).

Yeah, I've caught myself talking back to the SLF pilot.

"You whaaaaat....?"
"OK. Shut up"
"Will you shut the frack up?"

Mine loves to say "we live to fight another day" when I kill those pirates; which I am now going to think of as rusty dagger bandits :D

Have not tried BPC crew's yet on my *Conda, but had intentions of doing it soon, but but THI scares me witless!!
I use the voice coms when we fly in Wings, but having a chattering NPC in my ear buns will drive me totally bonkers!!
There must be some way of shutting them up!!
IF not : Design fail!!

Cheers Cmdr's

I do appreciate FDEV trying to inject a little npc personality and interactivity with the pilots. However, the lack of diversity of responses and commentary, and inconsistency with the role (as others have mentioned) seems to become a bit grating after just a few trips to the res zone. For a given npc pilot voice set how many responses are there 8-10? Seems awfully thin. When setting up my own voice attack responses, I used high-quality text-to-speech software to craft dozens of nested context-specific random replies. HCS actually can have 30+ generic affirmative responses from each voice actor.

So it's pretty clear that the npc voice commentary script is triggered by an opponent ship kill, but no contextual information about the fight, the opponent ship or pilot threat level, the damage done to the drone or the mothership affects the specific response by the npc. I imagine that would be pretty tough to code that info into a voice commentary response.

So in the absence of contextual-specific responses, I would prefer a greater diversity of responses (with random opportunities for NO response) that are not specific to the encounter. Maybe something more along the lines to the pilot's personal history, "That reminds me when..." or "That was ruthless, I really enjoyed that." 8-10 is guaranteed to be annoying after a short while for sure.

I do agree with the OP that an off switch would be a welcome addition when I'm out with several mates.

My pilot became even more irritating after his promotion to Elite. He now warns me every time when I start shooting that I have to "be careful with this one" because it is a "worthy adversary" which "has some experience" I should therefore "stay out of the line of fire". He keeps repeating these silly warnings, even when the target is already exploding. Devs, please make this nonsense stop.

Since my pilot made elite rank, she has not shut up about how every opponent is experienced and we have to be careful.

She was much quieter until the final rank.

Yep, as soon as they reach Elite, they like to sound off..

Better be careful Commander we have a dangerous target here. Yeh? Where? All I see is a dead sidewinder!

Was touch an go there for awhile? Really? It was a GunShip! We're in a Corvette!

I lost the fighter commander! You what? Lost a fighter? How the F! did you simply lose a fighter?

Help I'm taking damage!! That's what you're there for babes :D

No more targets in sight, stowing weapons! Huh? It's a F...ing HazRes, there's targets as far as the eye can see!

..

I just don't bother deploying her anymore :D So much more calm :D

That's the same as mine .... some 'harmless' sidey / eagle vs me in a corvette or something and the SLF and she's 'Elite' too ... saying that line nearly after every kill ... just grates after a while

At the Rank of Deadly, I'd just like mine to take better care of my fighters.
Spent 2 hours in a CZ last night and she managed to trash 12 of them. That's 1 ever 10 minutes.
We really could use a Transmit Message function for NPC's - I mean, we CAN give them Orders and they do reply, so that's cool.
It would just be nice to expand a little - add a "Nice shooting", "Take Evasive Action", "Get the Hell Out of My Line of Fire", and "" 'order' as well.
