General High waking and low waking tutorial

Hi

I was just thinking that a tutorial should be implemented to help people on how to high wake from combat situations.

I was also thinking this may solve a major issue in the game as at the moment players have to teach each other how to high wake.

High waking also stops other ships from mass locking you which is a valuable thing to learn especially when you are trader.

You don't even need the npc to shoot at them for this tutorial to work.

I know there is a wonderful video called "git gud to trading in open" which basically teaches the players how to do this but surely they should be taught this anyway?

It would make things less scary as well because you could have a setting that changes the difficulty of the challenge / tutorial from basic to advanced where the advanced would add the likes of Groms and scramble spectrum pulse lasers.

What do you guys think?

Yes, it’s a valuable lesson...

Google “the git gud guide to trading in open” on YouTube by Rinzler, it’s both comical and informative.

Also definitely follow up with his Gunship video for even more mirthful viewing. Really wish he’d done this for every ship in the game...

Edit: sorry I should have kept reading.

Not sure if it will teach anything to a newb. On the contrary, it will give him false impression about its ability to escape.
Combat against NPC is not the same as combat against experienced pvp-ers and a newb in a crap ship will have no chance to highwake anyway...

Better redirect them to deZpe's YT channel :D

Yeah I know but at the same time we shouldn't have to re direct them to a third party source

Most of this game relies upon out-of-game sources as the manual has been abandoned, the pilot's handbook in the UI is extremely limited and the tutorials and training scenarios are skimpy to to say the least.

So it is probably good to get new players used to using the internet for help as the game cannot manage it.

Learning about using hi-wake's advantage over lo-wake to run away from danger is one of the fun things to learn about Elite Dangerous. A comprehensive paper game manual would likely be as thick as a dictionary.
