Highest point in the Galaxy

Its a big Galaxy and I like to get a Space-bird's eye view of the whole thing. What is the highest system you have visited in the Galaxy, and can you give pointers for getting there?

The Highest I have gone is 2908 ly above the galactic plane. Syroomo BA-A G1 (-8270:2908:24974)

It can be reached by way of a small/medium FSD injection from Syroomo PX-U E2-0 to Syroomo PX-U E2-2 and a Neutron Star boost from there to Syroomo BA-A G1
(There are 3 Neutron Stars in the final system, so you can return from this system)

I want to go higher or lower than that on the Galactic plane, so has anyone found a system that is farther out?

I reached what I believe to be a similar height in a 31LY jump range DBE by going straight up from SGR A*.. it was a glorious moment.

Surely the core is the best place to go for "altitude".. get high up in the central bulge, and the Entire Galaxy is at your feet!.. or ventral thrusters!..
I will find a screenshot of my trip there to post...

Here's a screenshot of my Great Triumph in my DBE named "Happy Nowhere"..

..that view was achieved with a jump range of 31LY... one could surely go higher today in a modern engineered ship... my Orca can do more than 31LY these days!... I should totally go back there.. to the core.. the core.. it is my destiny.

Unfortunately, I do not have the system name.. :(
But I went straight up from SGR A*.. you should easily be able to gain a similar view by doing the same.. (Well, I have no idea how experienced an explorer you are, but if you can get to SGR A* , you can do this as well)..
You'll be unlikely to find my particular system.. but if you do.. you'll see my tag on that nice gas giant.. :)

I got 2870 ly above the plane but it wasn't a system I discovered and I don't remember going that high, if you wonder I know I did go that high because of my EDDiscovery flight log.

What I do have is two photos of a system 2856 ly above the plane that I claimed :D

About the record I guess this is what you are looking for

completely depends where you are in the galaxy on the longitude and latitude, in some areas +/-3,000ly is relatively easy, others you will be hard pressed to get +/-200ly

your best chance to get higher / lower (depending how you look at things, because which way is really up?) is near the central core

Systeia Aub BA-A g12 at +3173.375 LY can be reached using this route:

Systeia Aub KR-W e1-11 (neutron star)
137.79 LY jump to
Systeia Aub BA-A g11 (black hole with secondary NS)
211.43 LY jump to
Systeia Aub BA-A g10 (BH and NS)
218.27 LY jump to
Systeia Aub BA-A g12 (2 x BH and a NS)

Syrumbi YE-A g4 at -3216.875 LY can be reached using:

Syrumbi IC-U e3-4 (NS)
219.22 LY jump to
Syrumbi YE-A g7 (BH & 2 x NS)
169.24 LY jump to
Syrumbi YE-A g8 (BH & 3 x NS)
199.93 LY jump to
Syrumbi YE-A g4 (BH & NS)

None of these require a super long jump range by today's standards (55 LY plus the neutron boost) but you do need to be able to do those jumps whilst carrying enough fuel to get there and back again since there are no options to refuel.

While not the highest in general, I was out in the heart and soul area and with a few neutron boost was able to hit about 2100lys which is pretty high for how sparse it is out there. It was the last star up in the galaxy at that x/y coordinates, nothing above me.

Any chance this records will be broken? If I remember well you said that the record would probably be beaten in 2.3 but IDK if this records where made in 2.3 or not.

They were set in February so pre-2.3 and I'm pretty certain that it will now be possible to beat them - just takes a long time to find probable candidates!
