Highland Pack Hot Takes

If we could get a Highland Pack this winter, do you have any hot takes? Here are mine:
  • The Pallas’s Cat is overrated. I’m sorry, but I just don’t see the appeal.
  • I wouldn’t mind if we don’t get a wolverine. If anything, that means that there’s still potential that we could get a Woodlands Pack if there’s enough demand for it.
  • If we get scenery, I wouldn’t be opposed to it. It depends on how well it’s done.

So this is "Unpopular opinions" #2? Only to tell people you don't like their favorite animals / preferred animal choices.
What's the use of these threads in the first place? sigh
It’s specifically for a pack.

They’re useful for people to vent in a constructive way

I will say it again but I'd rather have two caprines from different continent's or climates than the same old Himalayan duo everyone always says.

Though really I want them all.
Gosh, am I about to make an opinion popular…

The markhor is cool but I don’t want it.

Give me a chamois, Rocky Mountain goat, bighorn, tahr, tur, serow, kri-kri!

Appeal is neither here nor there. You're looking at it the wrong way. It's not necessarily "I want this animal" but rather "if this theme is used, this animal is a very likely contender for it". Generally speaking people don't fill speculative animal rosters with their own wishes and desires, they put in species they think are going to show up regardless of how they feel about them on a personal level.

Pallas cat is a very obvious contender for a Highlands Pack. It's memetic, it's got cuteness appeal, and the sand cat exists as a perfect framework for it. From Frontier's perspective, the Pallas cat makes perfect sense.

This is also why the gelada keeps appearing instead of the more popular Hamadryas baboon; even though the baboon would technically fit in this theme, the gelada fits it more obviously.

Excuse me as I comment back to everyone cause I have to defend my dear highlands pack.

True about the woodlands pack but the last 4 packs have taken out an animal of the top 3 meta, it just makes sense to have the Wolverine in here.
North america deserves highland animals as much as every other region
I agree, but NA highland animals are really boring compared to the ones in other parts of the world.
The Gelada is the better pick for a Mountain/Highlands primate.
100% agreed.
were all way to certain about the highland pack
I ain’t changing my mind, I’m locked in and ready to be sad on announce day.

Burning hot take: we don't need a dedicated mountains DLC and should instead get something like a Latin America animal pack.

I'm sorry, but I feel like we have a bunch of mountain animals but barely anything iconic or relatable to Latin America. And in a Latin America animal pack, we can still get some nice mountainous animals, if you really stretch it

We have four mountain animals in the game…

Also, Central America would be a better pack

Actually, we have a lot more:
  1. Himalayan brown bear
  2. Snow leopard
  3. Llama
  4. Dall sheep
  5. Grizzly bear
  6. Alpine ibex
  7. Japanese macaque
  8. Giant panda
  9. Red panda
  10. Amur leopard
  11. Puma
I might've missed some, but I think y'all get the point. Some more mountain animals would be nice, but I think that Central & South America should be prioritized

The last 4 packs have been hot animals 💀

Sorry 5 - the sheep, ibex, giant panda, snow leopard, Himalayan brown bear. The rest are found in non-mountainous areas or more in foothills so wouldn’t be considered “mountain animals”

All the more reason to take a break from the heat and head to the mountains in my opinion. I love SA as much as the next guy but it can still happen in spring, this is the only time a mountains pack makes sense.
Maybe so, but we did get the Grasslands pack in winter...

I dunno, I'm torn on the mountains pack. I don't care for the theme but at the same time the individual animals are fantastic. I guess it's like how the Arid pack roster had great picks, but the theme itself wasn't very good

They count though, that's kinda the point. And honestly people picture them in mountains. Those animals are far more believable in mountains than a wolverine of all things
