This is Cmdr Derek Trotter of the Deep Space Exploration Vessel +?%$#&^$@ (Encryption failure).

I've, found, something very unusual...I would have almost missed the signal on the HUD were it not for me picking up the Saturn-ring donut instead of the Krispy-cream filling one.

I've been in deep space a long time, Ive only recently been able to establish connection to Galnet service as I make my way SOL-ward. This is an open channel, priority check. Are any CMDRs picking this up and can advise?

On my way back from Months out in the Core and Sag A*. At about 7000 ly from Sol I saw a Salvageable Wreckage signal in supercruise near the star as i was jumping out of system. Rammed the old girl into fuel-dump, slammed on the gravity-assist inertial dampers and yanked up the hand-brake and nosed her into the signal source.

On entering the signal site i found wrekage of what seemed to be an imperial clipper with one canister of large data cache (or something). I cross-checked this with galnet information but connection was inconsistent and solar interference made downlink patchy. Galnet mentioned a search for the Highliner Antares, could this be it? What type of vessel was she?

I could not collect the data, my ship is not fitted for cargo so I jumped out of system.

Signing out,

CMDR Derek

The Antares was a prototype of a new passenger liner by Sirius Corp. THAT SAID...cough cough. That prototype does indeed look like a bunch of Clippers forming a debris cloud. But it's not your wreckage because FDev was so kind to tell us where to find her so we didn't really have to. It would probably be in the way of a CG that's named 'SEARCH FOR THE HIGHLINER ANTARES'.

Also we already know that she indeed must have had a massive jump failure because she ended up in multiple systems.

Unless of course LYR tells us that the debris found is NOT the Antares at which point your chances just increased drastically from absolutely impossible to ridiculously unlikely.

Sorry to burst your bubble there Commander but that's a standard wreckage site. Ship sensor firmware had an over the air upgrade some time back which made it possible to detect these wrecks. You can bring the data back and sell it but beware it will be marked as illegal salvage.

If you're interested in the Antares the community goal is still on, check the stickied CG thread for details.

yeah i figured as much but thought id check in nonetheless. i never find any good stuff in this game anyway (sulky face engage!)

cheers lads for the info
