Highly addictive

So I've done a few little weekend jaunts out in to the black, the latest being the five klick run to get palin to answer the door bell. Did it on long hop as the aim was to get out and back as quick as possible so only scanned a few hundred systems but I still managed to find a dozen or so water worlds and MY FIRST EARTH LIKE WORLD (that was a sweet moment) and that's what prompted this thread. I've found few, if any, things in ED more addictive (or satisfying) than that page saying

CONGRATULATIONS CMDR EISE,

YOU ARE FIRST TO DISCOVER:

you back your data is in and you just want to go back out and do it all again. It may well be no player will ever visit these sectors after you, but that's also part of the thrill and allure it matters not you blazed that trail now to blaze a new one.

Although i like seing my name plastered across the galaxy, that "you are the first to discover" little screen starts to get old, especially when you have been out fir a couple of months, with thousands of first discoveries. Selling a page takes about 5 seconds, but it seems to take anywhere from fifteen to forty seconds before i am able to dismiss that first-discoveries tab

Agreed, exploration remains probably my favorite part of the game. After months of combat and engineering I have returned to the deep black, and MAN it is fun! I know more now though, "Git Gud" applies to exploration as well - knowing which stars to filter (filtering out class M, K at the moment); listening to the planets; identifying their image; and a whole bunch of other stuff I'm just learning now like identifying spectral brightness from the jump data and mass...!
