HIP 10716 shows up unexplored?

I am currently trying to get rank with the empire and have been doing the data runs from hip 10716 and WU G. All of the POI's in HIP 10716 continue to show up as unexplored even after I get within scan range. The planet station there still shows unexplored after I have landed on it numerous times? Is there a reason for this? I thought once I got close to it my scanner kicked in and it would show up in the nav panel.

Only thing I can think of is your discovery scanner is not equipped or not switched on. Is your power over capacity and switching it off?
Easy mistakes to make, we all do it.

If you're in a near enough system you can buy the data in the galaxy map. Also sell any data you have to sell.

For me the same, discoevery scanner is working. It is this way since the nav beacon became compromised, so I though this is intended consequence of that.

You can still scan compromised nav beacons to get the data. Or scan the planet, you need to target the planet and point at it in range.

Wait, I think I misunderstood. They are showing up but showing as unexplored?

That means you need to select the planet/star while facing it and if you're close enough a scan will begin. When the scan completes it will be named.

You say you've done it though, so it can only forget if you've lost your data before selling it

You need to have a discovery scanner equipped and scan the body and the OP does not say if they have one or not. If you scan something and die before turning it in you have to do it again.

No scanner, no recognized info from the body, unless as stated you use the local nav beacon.

Hmmm...I will check when I get home but I don't have any issues other than this system. Normally when I get in range of a planet etc....my left pane kicks in and shows scanning and the details follow....

I've dropped in on that Nav beacon, there was no beacon to scan, or it was not scan-able, I assumes this was a consequence of being compromised?

Did you have a scanner? Never tried it myself as I generally run ADS so just honk, but I was told once that you cannot scan a nav. beacon without some form of discovery scanner fitted ...

You don't need a scanner to scan a nav beacon you just target it, but yes I have an adv disc scanner always

ps. honk doesn't give you planet names you need to scan the beacon I thought? Or scan each body individually (by targeting)

Ah - so scanning the nav. beacon gives you everything for a system? Thanks - didn't know that, like I said, never felt the need with an ADS on board (virtual +1 rep, apparently I have none left :( )

I have just finished ranking up to King doing the HipWu runs, Nav beacons in both systems are Compromised, and both are still there and both are scannable. As I had no need to go to the beacon during my runs I never went in, but saw this thread and double checked. Make sure you look for compromised Nav beacon and not just Nav beacon.

It does show everything but it means you won't receive any exploration rank / credits from cartographics. However, you can still scan (by targeting) the bodies even though they now have names. You're just not going to know which ones have been manually scanned unless you keep track.

Whack a Detailed surface scanner on and it will rescan all objects again, the same goes with if you have scanned all system object when you honk a system with an ADS.

Just for clarity, you do not need a DDS, any of the system scanner modules will do the trick. As long as you have targeted the body, are facing it and are in range of it (range depends on the bodies mass). You still get information and 'first discovered by' tags plus exploration experience without a DDS. The only thing a DDS does is give you more information.

There is something a little off with the scanner atm. Rescued a friend out of fuel near Maia and scanned a planet in the system .. well tried .. it would not discover the body even though I was under 5ls in the end from target. Ping was not updating even though it was complete.

I recall the same issue well over a year ago (hmm maybe closer to 2 actually), which I believe related back to server side issues which put my out of the game when I was exploring out near Sag A back then.

In this case, I travelled to the next system and next scan worked.

Same problem, I am between HIP 10716 and Wu Guinagi since one week, and I need to scan HIP 10716 each days, more or less...
I frequently lose the datas... I didn't changed ship, and have the best scan + Surface scanner...
That is boring !!! It is the fifth time I scan the system, and I know I will lose it soon...
May be I lose data when the game crash, and it crashes frequently on PS4...
