hippopotamus should stay in underwater not just land most time.

Why my hippopotamus not staying in the water like it should mostly on land.
Like hippopotamus should stay in underwater as real life most time but planet zoo it mostly land.
Hippos
spend about 16 hours a day in the water. While awake, they can hold their breath for up to five minutes. While they sleep in the water, they surface automatically and breathe without waking up
Hippos stay submerged in the water during the day in order to protect their skin from the sun. The short answer to our question is that hippos live in water to make use of a largely unexploited ecological niche

There is actually quite a number of inaccuracies regarding the animals.Inaccurate behavior, social groups, appearances (e.g. red warthog, stating leucistic animals as albinos) and zoopedia facts.

You are gonna be busy,if you want to write that all down one by one - starting with hippos.

Edit: Oh,well. You changed your thread name and your post anyways.

For all the research they were proud of doing they really seemed to have tripped up hard on some important stuff. Hippos being on land too much, crocodilians not swimming underwater, pack animals not being pack animals, babies that look wrong [hyenas, flamingos], etc. etc.

I was really hoping the game had both albinos and leucistic animals and wasn't perpetuating the misinformation of them being the same thing, too. Bummer.

The reason built habit and animals be dumb and not using nice water part did and want know why.

If I had to guess...

In real life, hippos sleep a lot, and they do it submerged in water. And when they need to drink, they can obviously do it in the water. They can eat in the water too from the aquatic foliage and things floating in it, and they can play and socialize in it. In real life, hippos can do most activities of the day submerged or partially submerged, and so they can be in water during hours and hours, practically living there.

What happens in PZ? Why they don’t stay in water?

Simple: they can’t. Almost everything they need to do to survive is programmed only in land. If they need to eat, the only way to do it is to go to the food tray, that can only be in land. If they need to drink, they have to do it from another tray or go to the low-level water, they can’t drink while submerged. Anything to play with is always outside water, and they’re only programmed to sleep on the floor in land too.

They do pass all or almost all their leisure time submerged, but since they have to stop every time they have to fill a need, it’s not really a lot.

crocodilians not swimming underwater
I think this was already discussed as a programming issue - animals moving in 3D in volumetric water is apparently really difficult to programme (probably for the same reason there are no penguins and other animals)

babies that look wrong [hyenas, flamingos],

Baby flamingos don't look wrong, they just for whatever reason skipped the phase directly after hatching. The way baby flamingos are portrayed right now is accurate for few months old youngling.
