Hippos and boat rides - can it be done?

Can we have the boat ride go through a hippo habitat? I noticed this ride has no airlocks like with the 4x4s. Can it be done?

I was doing that, but it failed. The doors to the ride only opened once and after that it stayed shut, with a very long queue waiting.

I think this is a current bug with rides. The same thing happened with my monorail I just built. Empty cars, long lines, and the gate at the platform never opened for the guests to get on. There have been several reports in the forum about that.

PaulsLey was right - my boat ride works beautifully through my hippo area. I was able to use a completely submerged barrier and ran the boat track on top of it. It's quite nice, nothing I need to hide even! I had a lot of fun with it last night. Baby hippos - omg - so funny :) Hopefully, the ride gates issue got fixed with today's update.

Thanks for letting us know, I might have to take a look at this and see if I can get it implemented somewhere.

I'm almost afraid to open my zoo now after reading about animals escaping after the update. I really hope my hippos haven't learned to jump over those submerged barriers!

I have done it using rocks to block up all the space around the tracks rather than proper gates. It is possible, my boat track runs through habitats with about 13 species having access to the water.

The rocks you have just below the surface - they block animals but allow boats through? Do you use null barriers with that?

Here you can see the riverboat ride, it travels around the whole african area, pretty much every habitat uses the same water, except the cheetah at the top because the hippos have most of that (I use a glass barrier in the water to divide).

This is an example of a two lane rock gate, they are 100% effective at stopping anything big but have had some plucky baby zebra make a run for it.

Thank you for sharing this - beautiful build! I'm doing something similar with a huge river running through my African zoo with a boat ride. I had no idea I could use rocks like that, I'm definitely going to be giving this a try for my crocs.
