Horizons Hired Crew Salary confirmation.

To confirm:

Hired crew are paid a salary regardless if they are active or not correct?

As in:

I have two hired crew. One is active and one is inactive. Both of them would take a percentage off of my profits.

No, only the one flying around.

Incidentally, they all take a cut any time you cash in profits due to combat, trading or exploration
Shame. I had planned to train two up in order to ameliorate the eventual loss of one, but if that's how it is then one of them is going to have to go.

That's the main reason I don't use fighter bays. I would if the crew didn't take a cut while inactive...

Then have just one pilot.

It's true that once you hired a pilot, you're kind of stuck with using the fighters (and fighter-wielding ships) whether you want it or not, otherwise it's a waste on money.
Then again, you don't hire an employee, unless you have work for them, right?

If you hire low and train them up, the profit sharing isn't too bad. I prefer to fly my main ship and send the fighter out to annoy.
Honestly, if the money is the issue, then best to hire an expert every time you need and then fire them again. The passive salary for the unused pilots will build well beyond the savings from their lower trained percentage. It also, I imagine, will take some time to build up an NPC to expert, so the risk and price of having anything above that is rather expensive. I can only see it being worth it for pve combat oriented pilots. Traders and pvpers will both be losing out.

I love plasma cannons when flying the fighter.
But when conducting more serious business (read: when I'm earning money), I also like to tend to the mothership and put Aspen to the fighter. In that case I found out that fixed beams are crazy effective. With fixed beams, the fighter is actually more than annoying.
Yesterday, while I was killing the Anaconda, she took down their Viper wingman all by herself!

Wish fighter with the fixed beams? And what countermeasure?

Heat sink (It's an imperial fighter - Gelid F, other fighters may have different things, I guess)

Why do you need to see her, though, I'd rather not ask. :D

Ah, thanks for that. I tend not to use the imp fighters as they're not well suited to ground missions but may have to make an exception then. I wish all setups were available on all fighters.
