Ah, thanks for that. I tend not to use the imp fighters as they're not well suited to ground missions but may have to make an exception then. I wish all setups were available on all fighters.

Still better than Condor though.... That thing has NO vertical thrust at all!

Counterintuitive as it may seem, the Condor with fixed plasma and point defence is the best surface assault ship of the bunch (so long as you are on a low grav planet which most of them are). The small amount of extra shielding, coupled with the point defence makes it the most survivable of the bunch and fixed plasma repeaters are the go to weapon for taking out ground defenders and skimmers. I can do goliaths in with those. The imperial one is too slight for the job and the Taipan is OK, but without point defence it's survivability goes way down. The beam weapons as well as the multicannons are not very effective in that environment either. Plasma works best.

Harmless to Master took me a couple of hours in a haz res and the salary for Master is 7%, another Cmdr posted a pic of an Elite npc crewmate with a salary of around 14% I think.

My girl did Harmless to Expert, cost me about 1.2 Million credits. I'm not sure what her pay is, but she can handle both the SLF and Cutter very well. She is starting to kill Vipers and below with ease.......

Yeah, I find that they get fairly handy at the higher ranks, Elite must be lethal to mid-small npc`s.

Has anyone constructed a percent cut table for leveled pilots? I've leveled a competent pilot to about 75% expert (25% away from master) and she's taking 10%. If I hired her as an expert, she cost 12% straight away. So it's clear she earns more money as she levels, but at a rate lower than a starting higher ranked pilot. I'm just wondering if I level one from the bottom if she would be earning 10% as an elite...
 
At first I didn't like the idea of ship launched fighters. I thought it would appeal just to the pew pew brigade. However I am open minded and thought to try it out. I am so glad i did. It is one of the best features added in 2.2. I also love the banter they added during combat and hope they expand on that. Maybe add some cutting remarks or a quip or two. Hired my pilot at harmless and she is already at competent at a much lower rate than had I hired a competent pilot out right. She had a very impressive resume and looks had nothing to do with her eventual employment :p

I have one fighter bay in my Conda and one pilot. I took the lowest level guy and will train him up. If I lose him.. I'll get another and retrain. Pilots train up far faster than you do (I'd like to know the actual specs for this... anyone?), so I'm not too worried about it. Worst case I just hire an Expert later on. Sure their cost is higher, but if you are already flying a large fighter capable ship, you should be pulling in a pretty decent earnings as-is. Its a cost of doing business on a larger scale IMO. I don't use the fighter all that often frankly, but I like having the option available. Its a fun-thing more than anything. I tend to primarily do trade/passenger and such missions. Combat isn't my focus, though I do get my lasers heated up now and then for the fun of it. A fighter can make some extra fodder in the event of extra tough circumstances. If I run into a Thargoid someday, the fighter may be just the distraction I need to 'get out of dodge' before they make me into a people-kebab. :)
