Hiring Bodyguards or emergeny services required.

I've just started out mining with a Type-6. Didn't waste space on weapons as i thought i'd get maneavered anyway in a fight. My policy is to flee when danger approaches. However, i wasn't banking on the NPCs who interdict 5 seconds after you've just supercruised away from them, which they can do over and over.

This got me thinking. They should allow you to hire NPCs to protect you. Perhaps paying them an hourly rate. That, and/or give you the option of ringing 999 and telling the local authorities you're under attack. They could then say, "we can get someone there in 10minutes" so its a case of surviving for ten minutes. Without options like that, surviving an outing as a mining vessel just seems pot-luck. Maybe even allow you to pay a local faction (especially a pirate faction) protection money or a cut in profits to guarantee your safety.

Check in your functions panel. There is the option to "Report Crimes Against You" or something like it. This will let the Authority vessels know you are under attack.

I assume, you are in Solo? Why not ask a friend or two to accompany you in a private group, or try a run in Open with some hired player company.

Once i am back from exploration i will try some mining too. And i´ll make sure to have some friends with guns and large transports around... That will be fun.

HA! I totally forgot about that button. I'm desperately trying to get out from under this interdiction and watching Imperial Security riding in their ineffectual circuits...thanks for the reminder!

Honestly? It's best not to try waiting for them. They usually only show up once the fighting is done.

But depending on the security level of the system, I've seen them respond in 2 minutes and I once even killed a clean ship and waited around to see how long it took for them to arrive, 30 minutes later I get a message saying that they were responding to a crime.

It depends on the system. Anarchy systems don't have much in the way of Authority vessels (pretty much none!), while very advanced systems have them coming out of their ears!

In a Type-6, you'll be usually dead before Security arrives.

I don't see "System Security" displayed anymore in the System Maps.
What I found is that having Allied Reputation with the controlling Faction now appears to triggers the fastest crime response (at least that's my impression).

On average, I see System Security arrive after some ~1-2 Minutes.

The "Report Crimes Against You" function is on by default, so unless someone changes it will always be on. The response time of the security forces is not particularly quick, but maybe that depends on the security rating of the system you are in.

As for the OP's idea I think it is a good one, I had this thought a while ago about having hirable npc wing men for protection or to help out bounty hunting SSS's or wings of pirates. It would be great to either pay them wages or they take a share of of any bounty collected. I'm guessing that FD are planning something like this for Dropships and Anacondas, but hopefully they won't just be drones but give a lot of chatter in combat etc.

You can get an almost permanent police escort if you take smuggling or scavenging missions now.
I get followed by a lone police vessel every time, since 1.4. And every time I drop into normal space, for whatever reason, there they are, scanning me, waiting for me to pick up the illegal salvage.
The upside of this, which I found out last night, is they will help vs pirates.
Last night I took a few scavenge missions at the same time as pirate hunt missions. Every time I grabbed a pirate the police followed me and engaged the pirate!
