Hiring Freeze Scenario

Hi all,

I am having some difficulty in getting the gold star for this scenario and I'm not entirely sure why.

My issue is with maintaining the habitat welfare over 90 for the duration of the reporters visit. Its hovering anywhere between 89-91. This is despite all (yes, I've checked) of my animals in the zoo having an overall welfare of between 95-100.

Has anyone else had issues here? I'm at my wits end, I only need this to clear the scenario and its getting to the point I'm having genuine drops now because my animals are getting bored of their enrichment, haha.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What I did was hold back a lot of enrichment toys on all of the animals so they weren't getting bored with them when the inspector arrives. Then, when he did arrive, I paused the game and put all those toys in all the habitats to pump enrichment up to 100% for all of the animals he was going to visit. Of course, you do need to get your research up on all the animals to make sure you have the enrichment available. Lots of trained vets is what I did to make it go faster. (most of the time I only use like 2 vets for an entire zoo, regardless of size...for that scenerio I think I had like 7 or 8).

Other than enrichment, it should be super easy to max out the animal welfare bars, so hopefully that tip works for you.

If you're having some other issues regarding their welfare, let me know what category the issue is and I will have other tips.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice!

My biggest issue is not so much the enrichment, thats just a frustration stemming from the major issue in that the average welfare does not seem to be calculating correctly. The animals welfare is all but maxed out, but its telling me my average is only 89-91. I have the research and all the enrichment items, and do now micro it in the way you describe above, but I'm at a loss as to why its gotten to this point. I know I could cheese this and brute force my way through by only using one habitat, but that shouldnt really be the answer to passing this scenario.

Cheers

If I am recalling that scenerio correctly, you need the average wellfare of the animals the inspector actually visits to hit the average, not all the animals in the zoo. Make sure you're specifically prioritizing the welfare of the animals on the list of what he's going to see when he arrives. Assign dedicated keepers to them at that time if you haven't already, just to keep their habitat super clean and well fed, max out the enrichment, make sure the terrain space is sufficient (it can dip when too many babies are born), etc.

Basically go all out for those specific animals on his list, which you can see when he arrives by clicking on the inspection icon in the upper left. It even tells you where he is headed next, so you can really go out of your way for each of the habitats he visits just before he gets to them, if you need to. Makes it super easy actually.

Good Luck!

Thanks again - but I can confirm even the animals that are visited, at the specific time they are visited, all have well over 90 welfare.

At this stage I am assuming I'm into bug territory :(

The animals in the trade center do count, I guess as a way to stop you from just storing unhappy animals while the reporter is there.

Hi there - have you re-structured your animal habitats? There's a lot of unnecessary stuff in most of them when you start - like the bits of walls/floors inside the pools, the keeper doorways etc. I sold all the 'extra' construction items (all the stuff which looks like remnants of an old factory/power station - you can sell a lot of that) to get a some extra cash, and cleared the habitats down to the basics so my keepers could clean properly and so all the animals had a fair amount of space.

Make sure the whole place is covered for clean water and power.

Train your keepers, mechanics and security guard as much as you can afford.

Then drip feed your animals enrichment, don't swamp them with too many items at once, and rotate them in and out of the habitats say two/three at a time.

I'm sure you've done these things, and I hope it's not too annoying to make suggestions and that they help. Good luck! :)
