One of the key things that needs to be improved for me is visibility of events at the local system level and reasons as to why events are happening. The Galnet gives clues and hints occasionally but no real details on what has been going on.
.
I understand that FD want to keep secret the inner mechanics of the game and we don't need details down to that level to achieve what I believe is required.
As players it would be nice to see a history of what has been happening in each system (available upon docking) and how current events are impacting things right now.
.
Currently we turn up at a system we have never visited and we see faction status for each local faction.
We might see that one faction is in civil war with another for example. However there is no reason, no history, no dialogue on what is happening or why. Its just numbers on a page.
.
We might choose to spend a bit of time helping a faction by fighting/trading/smuggling etc but other than a few % points up or down at the end of a mission we get no real feedback on how our actions have impacted the system.
It would add a lot of depth and value to see a wider dialogue on ours and other Pilots Federation CMDR's actions that have an affect on the system. Plus actions taken by the AI without outside help.
.
In the above example, if we then leave the system and return a week later, how do we find out what happened? The system status could have changed drastically and we have no idea why.
.
Possible solution
A nice solution might be a "Recent History Tab" on the GalMap - System Summary page.
Example:
.
In Summary:
I would love to see improvements in galactic and local historical records and the ability to see how our actions affect a system. We don't need game mechanic level details, just a dialogue on recent events and the system impacts.

Example:
- Independent Faction 'Rogers Raiders' causing havoc in the space lanes, economy in trouble. Risk of economic bust up 5% in recent days.
- Due to increased trading, Imperial Faction the Netcom Noobs are gaining influence. Pilot Federation CMDRs are brining in record amounts of cheap gold which is boosting market share.
