Hit a Nice Milestone Tonight...

I just made it to entrepreneur in trading a little while earlier tonight which is a nice way to cap an evening on Elite.

I used a T-9 to make the last 20 million or so, but now I've traded it off for another Python. The T-9 is an interesting ship to fly as it feels so big and it really does rake in the cr's pretty fast, but personally, I like the feel of a nicely kitted Python more than I like having a mobile credit printing machine. I made most of the credits in smaller ships...I've been playing as much as time allows since the first of the year doing largely trading.....my ship progression in the game as been Sidewinder>>>Hauler>>>>Adder>>>Cobra>>>>T-6>>>>Asp>>>>T-7>>>>Python>>>>T-9>>>>>Python. Of the ships I've flown so far I like the Cobra, Asp and Python best. Any one of those three are a joy to fly

Nice! However, the fact that you jumped into a T9 with a harmless rank scares me. Traders should have to fight off pirates, and you only need 20 kills to get Mostly Harmless... Ouch.

Congrats to the OP. I have a nearly identical ship progression and favorites. I've stopped short of acquiring a T-9 although I have enough credits and I'm curious to fly one. Right now I'm waiting to hear more about the Diamondback.

I have Entrepreneur rank and Harmless as well. The way I see it, to a trader, everyone is a potential customer. I'm even friendly with some of the pirate factions in the systems I frequent. I trade at Federation, Alliance, and independent stations alike. I only draw the line with slave trading.

Elite is a sandbox game that is what you make of it, not specifically a fighting game. I don't play the game to fight, so I don't fight.... I've had to make my way out of many interdiction's that, I assume, were initiated by pirates and I did so without fighting...has it occurred to you that perhaps when one plays a game where people shoot at you from time to time, it takes a certain level of flying skill to escape every time without ever firing a shot?

Thanks...I trade pretty much everywhere as well, and like you, I never trade slaves

I've been using a Python for trade in various configurations since about Christmas, while I tried a 100cr T9 in the last beta I've never wanted to buy one, The Python's much more fun to fly and you can park it anywhere. it takes longer to build up credits but I don't mind that even wih the plastic A3 docking shields you can usually take down 2 out of 3 when your interdicted by a wing though I evade anything bigger than a Cobra. I break up my trading by hunting at Res and Nav beacons in a Vulture so I don't go crazy flying between A,B.C, I was mostly harmless when I got the Python and like you had no interest in combat and there's nothing wrong with that, fly safe and enjoy the ride. :)

Thanks Commander. R+ for your comments.....After trying the T-9 for awhile, I'm not sure if I care to get another one in the future---it certainly earns the cash but everything about flying happens so much faster in the Python --or just about any other ship for that matter....and the ability to land most everywhere in the Python is a big plus... I guess it's telling about the ships I like by the sorts of skins I've bought-- I gotten some for the Cobra, the Asp and the Python LOL

After 1.3 comes out I'll take another look at the possibility of fighting if I can't seem to generate enough influence with trading...FD says it'll be balanced, so we'll see

I've taken the same route as you ship-wise, OP, but I started in a Cobra so never tried the Sidewinder or Adder. Currently have a 232t T7 (no shields) and making just shy of 3.5m credits per hour. Python will definitely be my next ship and might even stick with it, from what I've read. :)

I also can't wait to get rid of the T7. Even with A-rated thrusters it's dog slow, and dull as ditchwater to fly!

Personally, I didn't mind the T-7 so much once I had it A-kitted, but the Python really is a very big step up in handling all the same--I imagine you'll get to the Python and never look back. It is truly a great ride...I've been considering about getting another back-up ship (I already have a Cobra tucked away) to put in storage in case I have a big run of bad luck sometime..I'm thinking that if I want to go on the cheap, I'll store a T-6..and if I want to spend the extra cr's, I'll store an Asp...and I have no idea why someone would ever want to keep a T-7 in storage unless they just wanted to have every ship in the game

Sorry for the double post but I appear to have reached trailblazer in exploring tonight as well... I didn't realize I was so close. I've always moved around from trade route to trade route once every few days in order to keep things interesting...and I've always taken an advanced scanner with me to help pay for fuel costs as I never use a fuel scoop. In this way I get a bit of light exploring in as well although it's nothing like the dudes that go deep into the black, certainly. At any rate, here is a screenshot and also one of the ship and my loadout in Elite shipyard as well---

Yeah I plan on buying another Asp at some point. It was a bit of a porker but still a lot of fun.

When taking a break from trading, I've also had a Vulture for bounty hunting which was great fun. Also set up a hauler for exploration, but I got a bored of exploring after a couple of weeks as there didn't seem to be that much variety.

Congrats on the new exploration rank too - not bad considering it's not your primary focus!

Thanks... Haulers are good little ships...when I first bought one I heard the sound effects and thought, 'man this ship must be a real dud' as it sounded like it was pretty botched up to me..but it flew nicely and got the job done well....as for the Vulture-- they say it's one of the best ships in the game...I think it looks good as well and it is certainly much cheaper than an FDL...I'd consider buying one just to see how it flies...by most accounts, if you fight it's the ship to have...as for the Asp, I really liked mine. They're sweet once it's kitted out and I really like the range it has--excellent for running rares

I was on 320M Cr trading and so should have been ranking up to Tycoon during my days off but I've fired up the Asp and heading for Sagittarius A instead...... I'm trying to split up the trading a little as it's starting to get a bit tedious although my new trading ship (Anaconda) is hairy when parking unless you keep your brain in gear..... I'm hoping that they give some advantages to the higher ranks as they said so maybe cheaper insurance etc.

That was one thing about flying the T-9-- Even though it was very slow, it certainly kept you on your toes flying just so you didn't smash it into things all the time...The Anaconda sounds like a great ship to try out...perhaps I'll be getting one for a bit here sometime in the next few weeks. I found a great trade route recently with large landing pads at both stations and very lucrative payouts--it would lend itself well to a T-9 or an Anaconda

Good luck to you Commander on your trip into the deep black
