General / Off-Topic Hitler for the children

In this children's coloring book ... a drawing of Adolf Hitler, making the salute. A Dutch chain store (Kruidvat) announced yesterday the withdrawal of the sale of a coloring book for children. The chain of stores "deeply regrets this incident" and described as "inappropriate" this image appeared in the books, she said on her Facebook page.

Actually I think that A.H. being tabu for children is a really bad idea.
History, especially the bad one, should be rubbed in our faces constantly. It is how many? One third of the Americans (USA citizens, I mean, sorry Mexico :D) believe holocaust didn't happen? There are twice as many people, there, who believe in God and creation.

Unfortunately sometimes the truth can not be spoken of these days. Take Red Ken; he quoted an historical fact and has been punished for it.

I think political correctness and ability to take offense from the truth is the worst human invention since serrated scimitar...

It was inappropriate but it is very important that children are given the opportunity to explore and understand the past. My Son is covering the period in his GCSE's and finding it a very compelling period of history.

Sadly the apologists for Hitler and those who supported appeasement don't like historical fact - It's very ironic that Churchill and Livingstone may agree about something ;-)

While I get these things its also important not to forget the man, how and why he did it, holocaust deniers already exist, ignoring the issue could easily increase the amount.

We need to somehow be able to have a normal discussion about what happened, how it happened, and why it happened, and how we make sure it never happens again. But yeah, of late that does not seem something at least on the surface that many people are able to have.

Talking about the past, or using up the past, as a reason, to derail a subject? In some cases is just irrelevant conclusion, / red herring, when the other one have no idea how, and what to talk. So he just changing the subject and attack something else, to put an end of the debate. Not as a lesson not something connected, but simply a reason to hit the opponent.

I think that the history should never be forgotten. In the case of Hitler it is important to pass on the story to future generations. Perhaps a little moderation and wait until the kids are a little older ? The little children have time to know the black events of the humanity
