Hitting ENTER in the galaxy map

Just wanted to ask if you think this is a feature or a bug. I'll log it if a bug (unless already there I guess). In the search field, type in your desired system to search on, rather than using the ">" key just hit ENTER. This either does nothing or toggles you to or from windowed mode - seems random. In the past hitting ENTER was the equivalent to ">" and is the usual, of course, when you have a field into which you put data - it is usual to hit ENTER to return that data to the system - yes?

I get this intermittently. Nothing else happens though (no switching between windowed or anteing) and it usually only happens for a little while after I log on and then starts working properly.

Interesting. Don't think my Alt key is faulty - everything else with using the kb is fine. Intermittent eh. Mm - I think I'll go log in now and try a few things, then leave it logged in for a bit and try again. I've always used ENTER as well and I am sure this has only arisen since 2.007. But I'll experiment a bit more.

EDIT: update - it seems fine now. I have no idea what was going on. Perhaps some sneaky little back-end server fix was made. Anyway, thanks for the responses. If it happens again I'll try and trace it better. Cheers all.

I'd have to agree with X-Terminator here. Intermittent sticking keys is often the first sign of trouble with a keyboard. Either that or you'd managed to enable Sticky Keys. Enter alone simply wouldn't toggle windowed modes.

I noticed the very same bug long before Horizons. I always thought this was related to my setup (3 x monitors, 2 video cards, voice attack, trackir blablabla). It stopped when I started to play in borderless mode (for an entirely different reason). My keyboard wasn't at fault though : I tried 3 different ones.

Weird. If you can replicate it. I'd suggest reporting it to Frontier. This sort of bug will likely be overlooked quite easily as a stuck key issue, but if you can show you've tested with multiple devices then that could be ruled out.

I use enter as my quick chat bind (as I have done with all games for the last decade), so since the last update it hasn't worked. If alt was "stuck" I'd not be able to use it elsewhere... so I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue. Though up until seeing this post, I thought it was a "me" issue. :/

For me this will only happen, if

- I ALT-TAB'ed out and back into Game
- I did not tap ESC once to regain full Key Input control within the Game (most key Inputs are disabled if I don't)
- I then press Enter

That quick tap of ESC after ALT-TAB'ing back into the Game has become an auto-move for me.
But should I forget, ENTER or F10 (Screenshot) will act as if ALT was kept pressed... Windowed mode or unintentionally getting HighRES Screenshots.

If we're talking about map searches refinement, it would also be cool if the search as able to automatically trim any trailing space after the text, so that searching for "Star of India " would be the same as searching for "Star of India".

Its cool when pasting names of celestial bodies from websites etc.

Windows does this to me frequently but I can fix it easily. One of the modifier keys (Ctrl, Alt, Shift) gets stuck down. Not on the keyboard, just in the computer's imagination.
I fix it by pressing each of the modifier keys on the keyboard. The press+release seems to reset it's ideas of what's pressed.
