Hitting star at slowest super cruise speed

Hello all!

You know when you arrive into a system out of hyperspace - and then fully throttle back? The supercruise speed reduces down to 30m/s or something.

I was just wondering - is it possible to actually fly too close to the star at this speed and be pulled out of supercruise? It seems like you are not getting any closer - but surely you must be (albeit slowly?)

SC's minimum speed is 30 km/s, and yes it is possible to get too close. Though if you're 30 km/s when exiting hyperspace, it'll take some time.

You would think so, this is a simulation with boundaries, not sure how long it would take though....sounds like a test is needed but can you hold off on actually playing whilst waiting lol...I bet it'll take a while

I have managed to do it. Went AFK mid jump, pressed throttle back so on exit I would be at 30km/s.

Came back a half hour later, was out of supercruise. Luckily I was running a very low heat setup, so was under 100% heat, and suffered no damage.

Did you read the ETA ticking down when you target the star? It doesn't say infinite it says you'll reach the star in 8 or so hours at your current speed.

First thing i do as soon as i enter hyperspace is throttle down to zero in readiness for the exit as you never know what is ahead and ready to pull back on the joystick to clear the sun. Certainly cut down on my Hull damage.

Ah yes - of course! You are right. Around 10 hours it seems.

Well done and thanks for all your responses.
