HMD settings missing from Graphics Options

OK, I'm confused. Where the heck did my HMD settings disappear to? I can no longer see HMD options in Graphics options for ED. I cant get the rift to play it!

It was working yesterday, but because I have multiple installs of ED & ED betas + an alt account I decided to clean install ED. However, the fresh install no longer shows any HMD settings anywhere.

The rift is working fine, virtual desktop loads ok. But ED won't switch to VR mode. Any ideas anyone?

there are a couple of similar post on this problem in this VR subforum. The good news, there is a fix. Did not happen to me yet, so I don't remember what actions to take. Search the VR forum a bit. Otherwise I am sure you will get a better answer than mine here within a couple of hours :)

I had all graphics settings reset on me yesterday.

But nothing prevented me from enabling the HMD setting under 3d, so didn't really think much more of it.

I did manage to get it working through Oculus home not the end, but I have an alt account that I can't get working via a copy Of EDLaunch with my other credentials.

The HMD option is in the 3D settings dropdown menu. Is HMD not an option there?

Nope, they simply were not there. Since getting it working via Oculus home, they are now. But when I try my alt account via Native EDLaunch, Oculus home doesn't want to grab the app and force VR. It did before though.

Had it two weeks ago... As workaround I first boot ED in Steam VR mode first (HMD loads), exit and reboot in the just opened ED launcher, now ED launches on my DK2 again, in noon Steam VR mode, , while opening oculus home and showing HMD as option under 3D.

Hope this works for you too.

This is very strange. I open ED via the ED Launcher and never had this issue. Why does it happen to some. What could you have done to trigger this behaviour?

I have the exact same issue.

Oculus home is up and running, I can put the HMD on and see the fireplace.

I then run ED, but no HMD optionsi n the 3D menu.

I can play in SteamVR mode - If I right click ED from the Steam home, and select 'run in SteamVR mode' it does run - in SteamVR mode. Everything seems a bit more colourful in SteamVR mode but I'm putting up with it for now.

I cut and pasted both the frontier_developments and frontier devekioments folders from my profile, which prompted a reset of all settings in ED, but they still weren't there.

I noted the above workaround to start in SteamVR mode then quit and go back in with the launcher still open. I'll try that next time.

I raised a ticket for this. The response from the support team was that removal of the VR options in ED is intentional.

They expect users to redeem Rift or Steam keys and run ED from OC Home or Steam VR. They did say that there are plans to put the VR options back in at a later date though.

If you have more than one account, you can't set the launcher to remember credentials. Of course if you have two accounts you could register one with Rift, and the other with Steam. I did this, and found running ED via SteamVR was awful.

A bit of a messy way to deal with it in my opinion.

i know this is an old thread but this is still a problem. With Quest and Virtual Desktop you can't login from Oculus home so elite only launches in 2D with no setting to change it. Since there is no hmd directly connected to the pc via wire OH refuses to launch. VD game menu launches the game but in 2D and there's no way to change modes that l can find.
