HMD Settings not appearing in Graphics Options

Can any one help me. I am struggling to get the support teams to understand me.
I have my DK2 fully installed with 1.3 I can see my Home, on screen and in VR, but when I run up ED from the standard Launcher I cannot see the options under graphics -> 3D for HMD (Headphones) or HMD (Speakers).
Support think I have an AUDIO Issue!!! And then say they don't support DK2.

All I have asked them is under what circumstances does ED not display these options.

I am not seeing anyone else with a similar problem. . I have:
1) Clean Installed Oculus 1.3 : Managed to get stuck in Oculus Home, by trying to calibrate it at which point it will not let you move away from the splash screen without pressing A on an Xbox controller (as I have a DK2 I do not have one of these). This state was persisted even when you restart the PC! This led to a clean install being required. - DONE
2) Reset all my personal ED graphics settings : Renamed the 3x graphic options files in appData\Local\Frontier Dev...\options\graphics\ then restarted ED causing the files to reset to default settings. - DONE
3) Mostly Clean Install of ED Horizons : The way I did this was to shut down the launcher then rename the Products directory in the EDLaunch then run up the launcher again, this seemed to force a reinstall. - DONE
4) Clean Install of Nvidia GTX 970 Drivers : Collected the latest ones and selected custom / ticked the clean install box. This effectively removed all personal settings from my display drivers including surround (3 monitor setup).

Next plan is to unplug all but one monitor. Anyone who can get me out of this problem will earn my full gratitude

I had the issue with windows 10. I did the following, might work.

1. Reboot
2. Switch on DK2
3. Fire up Oculus Store App
4. Ensure blue light is on the DK2 and on the Camera and store works
5. Leave store open and fire up ED.
6. In my case the HMD options appeared.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so can I confirm then the the HMD options disappeared for you if ED did not think that the OR was present?

Yes, ED will not show the HMD options if it THINKS the DK2 or CV1 is missing, hence I suggest to kick it into life with the store app.

Maybe this is because the CV1 has a feature that senses when you wear it, to start it up automatically. But remember, we always had to have the DK2 running before ED in the old days.

Hi

I have been trying to upload a picture to show you that the DK2 is on showing home but ED is not picking it up in the options. Failing at this tho too, sorry.
It is valuable to me to know that ED does not display the HMD options though if it does not pick up the DK2. I wonder if Home uses the HDMI plug or perhaps relies on USB only, perhaps this is the difference between it using the OR and ED using it. hmmm
I noticed in the 1.3 setup screen where it detects the cables that are plugged in that all 3 cables were shown as "Detecting" rather than "detected" (swirly thing).
I have been having this problem since 2.07 patch so it could go deeper than I think. Starting to suspect my hardware. Strange it works in home though.

When installing the 1.3 software just skip the detection of all the devices, it will show up regardless. Also make sure you check the 'Unknown sources' checkbox in the settings of the oculus software. After you do those two things the HMD should be available in Elite for selection.

Thanks Dutchy. I have done all this. I suppose the unknown sources button may not have taken for some reason ... but TBH now I know that ED needs to detect the HMD to show the options I am inclined to think the problem might have been around since the 2.07 patch. I also tried supersampling around then too. I am going to investigate the hardware first. I had assumed that if I am getting a picture on the DK2 in home then it would follwo I would get one in ED, but now wondering whether the 2 applications use the OR differently. Time to get plugging/unplugging I think. At work at the moment though so will have to wait until later.

Feeling really frustrated now. OR works in Home, I have downloaded Apps and played them, it all works no problem, Unknown Sources ticked, it is just ED that is not working on the OR!!!! Why would this be!!!

Please can someone help me.

I reinstalled ED cleanly. I found that when the C:\Users\Stu\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous folder was empty (as it is when you clean install) it reboots the pc when you start ED - just as it did when I played with the C:\Users\Stu\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\options startup\settings.xml file before I reinstalled.
This led me to reinstall completely cleanly the graphics drivers. This removed this behaviour but did not get the OR working in ED.

Not sure where to go next, really don't want to have to clean install the PC.

AHA! I am not panicking so much now as I have got OR working by running ED on HOME. Still no idea why it won't run on the native ED launcher.

Interesting idea. I think I do but I don't run Steam all the time. I just start it when I need it. I'll have a look tomorrow. I am just thrilled to have it working now. Smooth as butter. I was thinking about copying the Oculus Home version onto the EDLaunch version, or checking the dates of all the graphics drivers against the latest. I'll add steam VR to the list ;) Have a good weekend, I will, now :)
