General / Off-Topic Hmm, maybe the E: D community isn't so bad after all? ;)

The reason it was mentioned wasn't the multiplayer though. It was about all the nerdrage over ME3's ending.

Yes it sucked and deserved to be criticized, and Marauder Shields was amusing, but the reaction was pretty over the top. Sending death threats to writers families? Come on!

I don't think every fan did so. And if they did I'm pretty sure they regretted it once they clicked on the MP button.

I like how he political correctly names the 2 types of Players at 0:40
PC Master Race and Console Fan Boys :p

Others than that it is a bit this: As larger the community and as more frag happy the gametype as more of the unbearable player you will encounter in game.
And as better the Game more likely the community will be very unforgiven if one thing isn't done with the top notch quality they are getting used to and expect (Mass Effect).
True as great as the Mass Effect Series is the Ending was a let down.. However it doesn't reduce my high opinion about that game.
I also liked the MP mode very much because you could play some quick good and fun Co-Op plays there.

Never liked watchmajo, and that video is no exception.

While he may raise some valid points his opinionated rant about games he doesn't like, is not my kind of entertainment. Pritty heavy bias.

Any internet game that let's you communicate with your enemy will encounter abusive players, don't hate the game, hate the player...

Yep there are some awesome folks around these parts.

The Chaos Reborn community is also amazingly mature and friendly.

In both cases these are gaming communities which have grown around the remake of a classic game which was the product a great deal of creativity and ingenuity (David Braben and Julian Gollop respectively).

Having seen his other posts, I know he is a huge Minecraft fan, yet that game shows up at the #4 spot. So I'm not seeing the bias. These polls are usually based on viewer feedback & the like.

The easiest solution to dealing with any toxicity is to remove yourself from participating in it even as an observer.

Definitely the easiest, sadly not the best. As an individual I subscribe to this method but as "gamers" it would be nice if we finally stood together to stamp out this nonsense. It will happen, cyber-bullying is being taken seriously now and it's only a matter of time before online games become the focus because of the disgustingly toxic environment.

. Russians in particular, seemingly only communicate with expletives in Dota. I rarely play for this reason - there's nothing more sobering than listening to some man-child rage when you're trying to relax and play a game. disease and death upon you and your family.
I have noticed the same. I have a good English friend working with Russians and Belarusians, and in his opinion they don't really understand swearing. In my own experience it comes across as the sort of stuff 12 year old boys spout to seem cool and tough. Repetitive and annoying (which is probably the point).

But I played Dota for a long while and watched it become more and more toxic over the years. Back when I first started playing Dota I could have maybe 20 games without a rager (which was around 10 hours of play). I can't remember the last game I had without one now. Literally every game I am in. Every single one - someone rages. That doesn't always lead to someone getting abused but most of the time if they're raging they're also looking for someone to take it out on.

I think this is the case with F2P games.

World of Tanks has an incredibly hostile atmosphere at times, especially at the higher tiers. A bad match can really cost someone silver, and so poor play is considered by some players (presumably those with nothing else in their lives with which to measure their self worth) as actually stealing from them.

It's worth checking the rager's service record. Quite often they have a win rate of 49% or less, so they tend to be pretty bad players. Dunning-Kruger's hits hard, and they are convinced that their losses are always the fault of others.

I imagine the tendency to rage increases with the individual's desire to win.

And it's understandable to be frustrated but people always feel the need to cram their frustrations down your throat.

Particularly if the frustration is borne of incompetence or ignorance - they feed their own frustration when they try to decipher how they lost and fail. Then in looking to vent that frustration: "I'm gonna try to hurt this guy, that will help".
