Hmm, might take a break until the next patch.

I really don't want to do it, but at the moment the missions just haven't been quite as enjoyable since 2.4.03. The incredibly low levels of follow-on mission spawning was already bad enough, but the latest patch has seemingly turned all the surface scans back into milk runs again :(. As well as a handful of other reasonably trivial mission bugs (like garbled mission text). I'll do one more session to confirm, but after that I might take time off until 2.4.04? is released......hopefully that will fix the problems.

Out of interest, is anyone else seeing these problems, or is it really just me?!?!

I don't know if it's just me, or the game, but I'm actually feeling a little burnt out.

Been trying to unlock the Corvette for some time now, but I'm just not "feeling it" at the moment.
Possibly because I've had loads and loads of CTD issues since 2.4, which has made trying to run the game a complete chore. Lol

I probably just need to play a different game for a while.

That said, my PC has a shiny new fresh installation of windows, on an SSD, and so far, has been completely stable.

So maybe if I can actually play ED, I can enjoy it again. :p

I've had one follow on, which was another mistaken identity assassination (and you know my feelings about them!).

Garbled inbox is frustrating, and should really be hot fixed, but I don't think they do that anymore. I'm also seeing lots and lots of inbox delivered missions, but sadly they don't appear to be particularly compelling.

Planetary scan missions, I have had one that was a private beacon, the rest standard public ones. It doesn't really bother me that much TBH, the only difference that I can see is I get a 400 credit bounty for scanning the private beacon. I suspect the private versus public scans are just RNG, don't think it's intended... or not. I've been doing the kill skimmer missions recently, which have been quite fun.

Mainly I'm enjoying flying around in VR. :) That said, a break always brings me back refreshed.

I see much more follow up missions than I ever did, to be honest. Not that I actually do them, as currently there doesn't seem to be any point in it compared to regular missions, but they sure are there as I see them quite frequently on the mission boards, usually more than one at a time.

As for the SRV missions I can't say as they are the ones I dislike the most.

What frustrates me is that, during Beta, follow-on missions, off board missions & alternative missions were triggering left, right & centre. Yet though Adam Waite swears the trigger rates are the same as during beta, I am getting barely 1-2 follow on missions out of over a dozen missions....& mostly only donations. Salvage has produced none, & nor have data courier or surface scans. Oh, & very few off board/alternate contract missions. So sad :(.

So it must be me then. I was finding more follow on missions back when 2.3 dropped....even without the aid of the inbox message system.

I was getting lots of follow up missions around the pleiades. Now I've moved to Beku since sunday and I'm starting to get them as well.

Maybe the frequency is related to some BGS factors, I can't say fur sure as I don't actually do them, but I see them frequently on the mission boards.

I would suggest you to move somewhere else for a while and stick to it for a few days (in case local faction rep has something to do with it, I was allied to pretty much every single faction in the pleiades).

Yes, Assassination Follow-on missions really do need to draw from a deeper well. They could spawn Massacre Missions ("the assassination of <$target_name> has sparked a call for retribution from <$faction_name>, we need you to conduct a preemptive strike to dissuade them from that"), Passenger Mission ("with the removal of <$target_name>, it is now safe to transport <$passenger_type(s)> to their meeting in <$system_name>), Haulage Mission ("with the removal of <$target_name>, it is now safe to export this valuable consignment of <$commodity_name> (just *not* biowaste :p)") or salvage mission ("based on recent information, we believe that <$target_name> was responsible for destroying a ship carrying <$salvage_type>, we'd like you to find it for us).

That could make assassination follow-on missions much more interesting :).

I have moved, I started around Alioth then moved down to Wolf 397. No change in the trigger rate.

Just you. Saw plenty follow-on missions getting my Corvette unlocked. Unfortunately mostly mission types I wasn't personally interested in, but I digress.

I haven't been particularly enamoured of the missions I've taken over the last few days. Only one of around ten planetary scan missions even involved a private beacon. I did a passenger mission run in the Beluga, but it didn't make enough money for me to consider doing too many of those (at least while my Beluga has heating issues for me to sort out :) ). I gave up on missions yesterday evening and did some engineering instead (I'd been mission running all afternoon).

With regards to follow-on missions, I have only seen a couple of these since the update, and they weren't interesting enough for me to take (didn't pay much, either).

And now one of the hats on my throttle has broken, so until I've sorted that I won't be flying at all anyway...

I really think that this is a problem with the (seemingly deeply embedded) RNG mechanisms in the game. Personally I think that if things were triggered it might be better. In other words, follow-ons wouldn't be random, but would be part of an actual chained mission... ;) You know it's a chain from the very start, it could be very simple, a line of text saying if you complete this mission successfully there'll be more in it for you, or something like that. The follow ons should still be optional, but those that want a bit of a story would at least know that is what they will be getting, and perhaps Adam and Dom could make those follow ons more logical and compelling.

It's an issue (IMHO) in so many places. Why is there an RNG wait when you arrive at the location for an assassination / salvage mission? I'm guessing that FD feel it's too simplistic to just go somewhere and have something turn up, but the wait, again in my opinion, simply drops you straight out of the story. You know you are just waiting randomly for the next part of what you are supposed to do to spawn.

Regarding off board missions, these were spawning a lot last week, really far too often, and they were not terribly compelling missions either. It seems to me they are actually triggered from spending a certain amount of time in a particular system. They seemed to pop up at the most peculiar and inopportune moments too, just when you're dropping into the pirate lord's USS! :D Haven't had any in the last couple of sessions, so perhaps they have reduced the likelihood a bit.

I'm seeing a big degradation in credit rewards for things like planetary scan missions and transporting people missions. Might be a combination of FD tweak and change in economy.

it might be just you

No, it's not just you OP.
I was grinding out faction to get Allied with everyone in Sol when they completely nerfed passenger missions. Now all I can get is either 100,000 credits to take 20 tourists somewhere 10LY away or 20 mil credits to travel 20,000 LY.

Wow gee. What a choice! And that's at allied. 100,000 credits for an allied mission. What a joke.

The only missions that pay decently are assassination, skimmer, and black ops, but I don't like doing black ops because it tanks my reputation with neighboring systems and factions. Sometimes it tanks the reputation of the faction that gave me the frickin mission in the first place.
Someone explain that to me.

At allied I can't be bothered to do a planetary scan mission for 40,000 credits either. Sorry. Ain't happening.

I would rather take a break and wait for missions to adequately pay for the time you invest in them. Thanks FDev for nerfing all the fun out of making money.

Try pirate kill missions. They are amazing.

You can easily spend 2+ hours in supercruise for those 10 pirates you need to kill from a needed faction. If you're lucky you can get one or two bad 'right' guys at nav beacon.

This one.. rich tourist (supposedly) .... for the mug ... who is the mug at less than 325,000? :D These used to pay big money to tempt you.

And all it says is Alpha Centauri 31.1 lyr

I think if you are not enjoying missions just don't do missions :)

Go explore for a bit, or do something you wouldn't normally do. Learn a new skill.

Marc, I hit a similar lull about two months ago. Lately I've been catching up with all of the game's I've neglected since Horizon's first launched. Civ 6 in particular has been getting a lot of my attention. My advice is to either take a break like I'm doing, or to radically change your activity list within the game.
