I'm currently 82km out from one that should have an even horizon of 40km. Anyone been that close before? Should I be worried?

I don't think its possible to get down to 68km (where I am now) in SC... (or at least, its not possible for me!). Also, its it just me or is it only the background stellar field that is distorted by the lensing effects> The Companion star seems unaffected.
yes, I know, I'm there! ~1.5 Schwarzchild radii out. Sensible ship won't take me closer, I'm hitting the body exclusion limit. Same there's no accretion disk....68km is doable in normal space.
boooo!Lensing only works on the background is my observation too.

15 solar masses, so yeah, pretty big for a stellar-mass BH.You must be at a pretty big one, all the ones I've found let me get 24km close![]()
really very very boooo! Also, no frame dragging or spagettification. And as DoubleSkulls has confirmed, only works on the background. Another sad thing - it has a different effect on skybox stars vs clouds.
So you will explore hundreds of light years, but won't explore the last 60km. Where is your Explorer spirit?
Loan him your ship. Hook a fellow explorer up.
It's easy to play (and give taunts/"advice") on someone else's shilling.
