Hold jump button for jetpack

At the moment the jetpack is activated by pressing the jump button in mid air.
That means you need to jump first by pressing the jump button. This is independent from the duration of pressing. Short press, or long press doesnt matter you will always jump the same height.
Then you need to press the jump button again to activate the jetpack. Here it depents on your pressing time how long the jetpack is activated.
But just tabing the jump button for the jetpack has no affect at all.

The problem I always encounter on exploration is, that when I try to get up a wall and reach a point where the slope is to great to walk on, I need to jump/jet my way up.
It happens that the mid air state to activate the jetpack is too short to time that properly. So I need several times until it works.
If I need to reach another latch to stand on, not directly above me, I can slip and fall down the complete wall without even once being in the mid air state to activate the jetpack while falling.

This problem could be easily avoided by having the jump button tabbed for jumping and held for a second for the jetpack.
It changes nothing in the way the jump/jet movement is performed at the moment by (I make a wild guess) all of the players. Please correct me if you are a short pulse jetter.

The benefit is to activate the jetpack even if the mid air state is not given, like on the ground or while slipping on a wall.

Hopefully this idea reaches the responsible person and will be considered.
To boost my chances a little bit, I call for my favorite CM @sallymorganmoore for help.
Please help Sally, for your posts lighten up the crazyness at this place.

Best regards,
Gorrister

Helloo! Loving seeing the 'Suggestions' area being used more and more (I mean it's always been amazing chatter but the level of detail is a joy to read when it comes to it!).
Just want you to know I've been here :) Thanks for taking the time!

Is there a reason why night vision does not work with suits even though the command is mappable in the settings? It would be really helpful if it did, especially in the Artemis suit.

You need to install the night vision mod from an engineer.

Suggestions always was used a lot over the years. Only with Odyssey, there were a few weeks where people were busy with other things. The really surprising thing is to see an FD employee actually reading the suggestions. It for years now had the reputation that this is the place where good ideas go to die.

So, really happy to see your posting here. There's plenty of good ideas going around here, maybe at some time some of them could see the light of day.

In the 3ish years I have browsed this forum, I have yet to see any suggestion posted go anywhere except the depths of the void. Hence why most give up on posting suggestions. Not that that's your problem Sally, but it is the truth. And it's not because CMDRs are making grand suggestions. Many simple QOL suggestions regularly float by, like not making cargo scoop message completely block your cargo scoop view, are generally agreed upon by CMDRs as being a great suggestion, and . . . nothing. A few weeks pass by, the same suggestion gets made, gets met with the same approval and . . .

CMDRs soon realize the Suggestions forum is kabuki theatre, because it is. Unless you're @DemiserofD, who has never given up on the possibility of Suggestions being considered. ;)

I really, really hope we can change this for you moving forward, once we are playing less of a game of "catch up" with fixes and improvements being a focus first. We are truly wanting to bring more of a mix of improvements + new goodies moving forward with Elite (so not just tackling bugs and that's it). I'm looking forward to it anyway :)
