Yep, someone in the store done goofed. At best it might be a typo and it's a mk1 mk3 as it's obviously had a facelift at some point.

The bobblehead pictured is definitely the same one seen at the crash site. Look at the canopy. I was just at the crash site a few days ago and was surprised to see that they actually modeled the front end differently rather than just lazily copypasta-ing the standard Mk.III.

Screw the bobblehead, where can I buy that Cobra to fly?

It's just a mistake on the store page. The jameson Cobra is an earlier MkIII, a MkI is a different shape.

Im not sure tbh. It could be a Mk1. Especially a new design Mk1 for this game. Im not disputing what jameson flew.

Look compare it to this. There are differences even the cockpit is a different shape.

It isn't a MkI from the earlier games. Frontier don't really seem all that bothered about lore so maybe someone has just decided that's what a MkI Cobra looks like now of course, but what this is, is just a mistake. Just like the Python wireframe skin having lines in the wrong places is a mistake.

Hopefully it will be corrected, but whether it will be (and if it is, when), is just a dice roll.

Are you comparing the low-res wireframe from the original game to a 3D representation of the same ship?

The bobblehead and the CM III are not the same design, the bobblehead may not look exactly like the wireframe but it's hardly lore breaking.

Bobblehead CM I

CM III

I posted wireframe pics in an earlier post.

The bobblehead ships all have cartoonish proportions, I am comparing Jameson's Cobra as it appears at the crash site in-game to all other in-game representations of Cobra variants in the Elite game franchise.

Maybe we are being encouraged to buy a bobblehead of one of the other ships in that Commander's shipyard? Will we be offered the chance to buy Jameson's SRV next, which will look like a BMW 2002? Or Jameson's Sidewinder which will look like a squashed packet of cigarettes?

The ship at the crash site looks the same as the bobblehead to me aside from some slight reduction in length...

The more I look at images and documentation the more I think the only real mistake was the store calling it a Mk I. The bobblehead also looks like the ship at the crash site, the original Elite had a Mk III, so was there ever a Mk I in any Frontier game?

Sorry, not trying to make a big thing out of this but I'm bored at work. It's Friday and I have 2 hours to go!
