Buildings & Attractions HOLDING PENS

Your Feature Request / Idea
This idea came about thinking about certain iconic buildings we've seen in the franchise, but how they could be integrated into the game with some kind of meaningful function. (Namely the I-Rex paddock and the Velociraptor pen.

JURASSIC PARK HOLDING PEN:

Overview:
"Holding Pens" are temporary housing for your dinosaurs until you move them into your park. You may tranquillise a dinosaur and airlift them in. When you wish to move a dinosaur out of the holding pen, you would click the Holding pen and press the "Move Dinosaur into Park" button (which then switches to the familiar airlift mode to choose where to place them) or alternatively "Open Holding Pen" and the gate opens allowing dinosaurs to be released into the park much the same as a Hammond Creation Lab.

What does the Holding Pen do?
- Food, Drink and Comfort requirements of a dinosaur increase whilst housed in a Holding Pen.
- Dinosaurs are nursed back to health more quickly inside of a Holding Pen.
- If sick, a dinosaur cannot spread her disease whilst housed in a holding pen.
- Dinosaurs cannot escape from a Holding Pen.

What are the practical uses of a Holding Pen?
- To temporarily house a dinosaur until they are ready to be moved into the park.
- To "rehab" problem dinosaurs until their comfort and needs have been satisfied.
- To quarantine sick dinosaurs in order to stop the spread of disease whilst you research a cure.
- To heal injured dinosaurs more quickly.

Example of use:
You've just spent all your money hatching a new dinosaur, only to find that her social need isn't satisfied! You'll need to hatch some friends for her as soon as you can, but in the meantime, she could cause problems for you. Tranquillise her and move her into a holding pen, and she will be well taken care of until she is ready to join her new friends pack in her paddock.

Isn't the Holding Pen overpowered? What are the drawbacks?
- A dinosaur housed in a holding pen is not for public viewing and as such, does not contribute to your dinosaur rating.
- A holding pen can only house 1(?) dinosaur (or a very low number).
- A holding pen requires a fair amount of space, power and money in order to place in your park.
- Having a dinosaur in a holding pen negatively impacts your park's dinosaur rating?

Why would a dinosaur's comfort level increase when in a small holding pen? How does that make sense?
Dinosaurs housed in a holding pen receive an increased level of care and medical attention from your staff. They could also be given medication in order to pacify them and decrease anxiety.

Thanks for reading, guys. Looking forward to any thought or feedback you guys have.

Hey, I like your idea, it could be a good use for the iconic JP raptor pen building.

May I add a few suggestions?
Jurassic World's holding pen for big dinosaurs and Jurassic Park's holding pen for small dinosaurs.

Also, since holding pen isolation seems to be the source of Indominus's omnicidial behaviour, maybe a dinosaur could have her comfort threshold affected, making her easier to get upset and try to breakout after being there for too long.

Thanks Joaquin. My immediate thought was that the I-Rex Paddock design would be the first added to the game, and the JP Raptor pen could be added as an alternative design (along with a Jurassic Park Classic theme DLC... seriously Frontier make it happen!)

But yes, the I-Rex pen is clearly much larger than the raptor pen, so I do like your idea of having one for large dinos and one for the little ones.

That's an interesting idea with the comfort threshold. Whilst their comfort increases, their comfort threshold slowly increases too? Kind of as if they get a bit stir crazy from being imprisoned for too long? Interesting...

Now that Return to Jurassic Park is out, it'd be great if the Raptor Pen actually served a purpose. I'd love to see it as an actual Guest attraction, where you can click and select it to see the view below, as in the film they mention in muddled dialog that there is a viewing area below. It's pretty clear from Muldoon's dialog that there is no chance they'd ever let the Raptors run free in their enclosure, so the pen would make sense for Raptor viewing thematically.
