General / Off-Topic Hollywood movie or anime for E.D.

Greetings all, just a purely hypothetical question or two, and some ideas,

#1 what would you prefer to see (hypotheticaly) a series or film based in the E.D. galaxy?

#2 what would your preferred platform be ie Anime, manga, film?

#3 if your preference would use actors/actresses who would you want?

#4 what would your preferred story be based on? Powers, formadine rift, thargoids [alien], guardians or all of the above?

This is just for a bit of fun, it doesn't have to be based on the general game/gameplay.

Any and all ideas are welcomed. Cheers cmdrs and fly safe out there o7

None of the above. Trying to make a movie about one of the least movie-like games out there would surely result in something that didn't represent the game at all. Movies (or at least the sort of movies that include spaceships flying around the Galaxy) require Heroes, an Epic Struggle, and the Final Victory of Good over Evil against Overwhelming Odds. Which (despite the best efforts of the Thargoids) isn't what ED is about. It is instead about being a small and insignificant part of a large and messy bubble of humanity doing all the usual human things (or at least a dystopian vision of usual human things), surrounded by a much larger bubble of mostly unexplored emptiness. It is about survival, and about making the best of things where you have no hope of becoming a Hero. I really can't imagine any 'Elite Dangerous Movie' that accurately depicted that ever getting funded, and instead we'd end up with Generic Space Shooter episode XVII, with only insignificant details bearing any resemblance to the game.

There isn't much to hang movie on, elite is pretty generic.

Space, credits, trading, aliens that's it.

Maybe you could do a TV series

Whilst I respect your opinion, i have to disagree, if so many books can be written in the E.D. galaxy then surely it stands to reason the same could apply to a film?
I may be wrong but imo I think it could work, it's just something as I say, hypothetical that I thought myself and others might enjoy

I was thinking a t.v. series would be pretty good as it could follow say a cmdr from harmless through elite and the trials and tribulations involved, of course a little imagination would be needed to add substance but I think it would be worth a watch.

You could make a sci-fi where the ships and stations are borrowed from Frontier's designs but i don't think you could make a movie about Elite. Maybe a dry documentary about the making of it.
I'd be embarrassed to keep playing if they made an anime. Not the kind of exposure I want. Not the kind of brush I want to be painted with when it either becomes more popular than, or popularizes, Elite. Won't be able to talk to my friends about it anymore.

I'd love to see a Heavy Metal style cartoon with some animated Elite short films and 80's soundtrack.:cool:

If it's live action it'd have to be for the cheese so a sitcom series or 90's style action movie would do the trick.

A CG animated movie might be pretty cool but it'd still have to be a just a sci-fi that happens to have some visual treats for elite fans in the background.

Maybe we'll see a Viper hull in the background as an Easter egg in the next whatever.

A TV series would work well. There are a lot of characters that could be cameos: Angel Rose, Thane, Salome, Johanna Meister, the winged cat.

A normal bloke in a beaten-up Cobra trying to make a living any way he can, in a galaxy of pirates, powerplays, slave traders, crazy AIs, and mysterious Thargoids might fill a gap left by the demise of Firefly.
