Holo Me - customizable for hours, but no ability to save presets?

But it is the case. You have one game, one profile. You can`t have two. There are no two saves. To have two you have to buy another version of Elite. So it makes complete sense that you can only make one Character at a time.
And now comes the but, in ED you can change your appearance whenever you like, how often you like. And in addition to that it's a hologramm afterall, an avatar.

As the title says..

...I find it odd that they gave us this character creation tool, which they themselves state how you can spend hours customizing your avatar....but then not give us any extra slots to save presets...not even two or three or something?

I have no interest in recreating my ugly mug and leaving it there...What I want to do is make famous faces and swap between them as I feel like it. Seems like a missed opportunity, the omission of this option.

FDEV - can we please have some slots to save our Holo Me creations? I think 5-10 would be fine.

Does anyone know of a "hack" way to save Holo Me settings? Some .cfg some where I can copy and paste maybe?

+1 Rep. Totally Agree with OP. Would be great and so convenient if we could backup and restore Holo-Me creations as needed.

I was wondering, why FDev haven't implemented save slots yet.

One reason could be: They want the Holo-Me to be our lasting in-game avatar that doesn't change radically every other minute! Hence it could be a design decision rather than an omission.

They could have achieved this by freezing the avatar after the initial creation and never let us go back to it (like in other games). But this wouldn't have allowed later refinements. With the current implementation, we can tweak our avatar a little bit on long super cruises to Hutton Orbital - including changing our space suits and facial paintings (of which some can be purchased and hence create needed revenues).

If this is true, however, I feel that the Holo-Me button is a little bit too present in the UI.

/Sigh/

We are not a Hologram, the Holo-Me is a Holograpic representation of you so that you can see it. The game never takes you out of 1st person. The hologram projected to other ships in MC are Holo-Me versions of you but the you in your pilots seat is flesh and blood you. How hard is this to understand.

I want multiple Holo-Me saves though if only to allow for easier movie making with different characters in the story.

What are you doing to need so much plastic surgery?

:D

I like to make many different characters, not just a copy of me (which tbh I find pretty boring). I wanted to make a bunch a various different scifi characters and swap between them when I felt like it.

Here is Admiral Will Adama (complete with war-tache :) , but dammit FD, we need Glasses..please, I don't care if it's the future :p )

That's a fun idea for a video series. Sci-Fi characters misplaced in the world of Elite. Is Husker here searching for Earth or the AI scourge?

I just want to be able to back up what I have so it doesn't get lost. I'd be content with a file I could copy somewhere, like I do for my control bindings.

Meh, I spent 15 minutes on it, and have basically ignored it since. I was hoping for more content, instead we get avatars and cut-scenes......
