Holo-Me

For those of you who have played ED on other platforms, how much variety does Holo-Me allow for? I see many forum members using their holome as their avatar, and it looks like they're all from the same big family. Maybe it's the lack of hairstyles, or perhaps it's that all holomes look depressed, or perhaps all ED players look alike in real life, therefore all holomes look alike as well. The only holome that stands out is Harry Potter, but that's not the kind of "unique" I'm looking for.

I probably won't even bother with a Holo-Me to start with, I do like the fact you can always change it.

I don't know myself, depends if theres sliders to try mix the look up a bit or if its just pre-sets, I know in elder scrolls and fallout I could make a real crazed, experiment escapee look

I also like the fact that I can go back and tweak/change my character whenever I want. That means I will jump right into the game with both feet and worry about that later.

I just hope they allow us to change body size. If I'm gonna be a cockpit potato who never leaves his ship, doesn't eat healthily and can't spell eksursize (see what I did there) then I need some serious girth in the abdominal region :)

Like a human from that Wall-E movie lol

Character creation is one of my favorite parts of a game. I suppose our ship is more analogous to characters in other MMOs, but all the same, I'd like to have a HoloMe that looks at least a little bit unique and plenty attractive, just like me! :D

It's pretty varied, the devs managed to do some very convincing copies of themselves.
It doesn't have Fight Night Round 3 levels of lunacy but it does a pretty good ugly!
The bodies can't currently be altered.
You tend to pick one of the various presets and alter from there, which may explain the similarities you mentioned.

I think most people, myself included, don't really change things that much from one of the base faces, which is why so many look similar. However, there are enough sliders that I've seen some *very* different characters. If you really want, and are prepared to spend the time, you can even get a decent match for your own face (see Community Manager Ed's avatar for example).

My only real gripe was a lack of non-standard human skin and hair colours. Cmdr Jintosh should actually have a green tint to her skin due to the gene therapy her ancestors underwent to allow them to settle the world they found a millenia ago, but apart from that I think it's a decent character generator.

There is a range of ethnicities, ages and 2 sexes, so you can conjure up a wide variety of faces.

Just don't mention long hair!

Someday, someone will figure out how to do long hair in a computer game...

The HoloMe is actually a pretty damn cool character creator. There are quite a few presets if you want quick and done but there are also A LOT of sliders to twiddle with if fine tuning to the nth degree is your thing.

But I can't create my body. How am I supposed to enjoy myself if I can't look down and see my huge belly slopping over my scifi utility belt. I want ne demand Conan Exiles level of character creation. :) :) :)

It must be the flightsuits, they obviously keep the muscles erm.. stimulated in some way to maintain bodytone even when sitting in a seat for several months. :)
