Holy Avian Infestation Batman!!

So, yeah, I have a decent bounty (about 700k total) from PP kills in one system in Fed space. I get it, I'm wanted if scanned by a Bounty Hunter. I knew that going in.

There wasn't much of a problem until I took a mission to kill 10 pirates back in Empire space. I went to a Nav beacon and BH were spawning 2 or 3 at a time in wings every 60-90 sec or so. I was in my FDL with 700-ish shields, two chaff, and two 4A shield banks (one powered at a time). I am rated Dangerous FWIW.

If the cops weren't there to take some heat off, I would not have been able to stay there more than a couple min. There were just too many BH, too often. I was barely able to find other targets and scan them to see if they were mission targets while killing BH as often as I could for 400 cr each. I finished the mission with 1 Shield cell charge left ( out of 6 ) and 3 chaff left out of 10.

I'm not really complaining, but man, that was a ton of BH. It seemed a bit overdone, IMHO.

Just letting everyone know what they might expect. I won't be getting any more bounties for PP.

Iif you scan ships in SC now they will tell you if they are able to complete your mission....after thatn all you have to do is interdict them...you could also jump down USS's and do the same thing.

Yeah, I thought about the USS method, and it's valid, but I suppose it would take quite some time to find your targets.

Also, I expect the treatment I got at the Nav would be the same at a RES. I'm not a huge RES farmer, but if I needed to do it, it would be a major pain with that many/frequent BH.

I haven't had many problems with bounty hunter NPCs. Just gotta remember to turn on reporting before they finish scanning me so I can actually shoot them back without getting another bounty. Then again, I'm in a Python with 3 large beam lasers with boosted shields and double-linked cells. Unless it's a 7x wing, nothing gets through my shields. Except that one time...

Ya not really liking the hand holding .... I AM able to tell ALL BY MYSELF which targets will complete a mission ....

The addition of this makes it less tedious for Faction reasons. Before players would constantly have to crosscheck factions to see if the target was actually a valid target. Even wanted pirates could be invalid targets, simply because their faction was different than the faction the mission requested you to kill. This lead to a lot of people believing the game had issues/glitches/bugs involved with missions, simply because when they killed a clearly wanted pirate, it didn't do anything for their mission progress.

Ya it is pretty tedious having to remember who hired you ... sorry its still hand holding.

I reported this as a bug in 1.3 beta. At one point you were getting attacked by all the bounty hunters all the time! They've fixed it.

Looks like every NPC BH has a bounty value at which they will go for you. These days they will sometimes leave you
alone. 700k must be above everyone's trigger point.

Moral of the story - don't go on a murder spree if you want to go into a civilised system (there's a quote here but I can't remember the wording).

I wish the NPCs did survivability estimates, not attacking if they're clearly out gunned. Then you'd only have Anaconda bounty hunters going for you rather than all the small guys.

And I wish they spawned intelligently. If I don't know there is a high bounty commander one system over, how do NPC bounty hunters know? Where do they come from?
