HOLY Poop

JESUS H Corbett....Just jumped into one of the low combat zones in Neits CG to test out my new Python setup.

Right over head a Imp and Fed cap ship both jumped in together. watching 2 capital ships jumping in is mildly INSANE in VR, lighting storms buzzing around them, the sound oh my god the sound of it, the frameshift effect distorting space around them Flip ME it was AWSOME.

Then I noticed I was right between them as they were fighting it out, shields went down, hull at 50% in my brand spanking new Python, jumped out with 30% hull.

It was like something out of a Star Wars movie Never mind those pesky 2D MONITORS

I guess VR might have helped me judge that gap between the Farragut's sides a bit better.

I had an iCourier dive below, while I was pulling up, saw him trough the gap below the ship and wanted to pull a "Lando Deathstar move"

Did a nice 90° swoop, boost and .... *plonk* ... FAS didn't move and inch, shields were scraping at something and going down fast. I was stuck.

That awkward moment when you try to re-enact a famous movie scene without a proper screenwriter. :D

...and just imagine if it were instead more akin to the promo-videos from year(s) ago? ie: If you could sign up to missions as a fighter pilot aboard one of these things to help defend/attack etc...

This is now the 2nd greatest gaming experience I have ever had, 2nd only to the first time a mate put me in his DK2 for the first time in Elite.

Non-union sets are the worst.

I went to a CZ last night and a capital ship popped in. It is a beautifully done sequence, but I have to say it feels a bit lost really. First of all it just happens like clock-work. ie: You arrive in a zone, and then (if its going to happen) one/two capital ships arrive... And then... That's it really...

It sort of feels like its looking for a real purpose/application... ie: Where these capital ships can be used in more interesting/varied mechanics, instead of just spawning at the start of a CZ mini-game...

I agree. Give me command of one of those ships, let us form the Necromongers and unleash me on the Galaxy!

Mo-ha-ha-ha!!!

Will we ever get to this position?

eg: You can take up a mission/task to act as a fighter protection/escort for a capital ship for a period of time. Ideally as a Wing too so you and your friends can do it togethor. Missions such as convoy escort/attack too... and image if in OPEN, other CMDRs have counter missions to yours. ie: They are attacking the convoy you are defending. (All in fighters!?)
