Home at Last!

My ancestors came from an agricultural area of Tuscany, Italy, Earth in the 20th century. Eventually one of them appears to have started a colony on LTT 198, which has an earth like world, now known as Dini. So of course, it has long been my ambition to visit this world.

The problem is, of course, that LTT 198 is not open to strangers. It is hard to get a permit; it was especially difficult where the influence of the LTT 198 Order was so low that missions were hard to come by. It was very difficult to build trust, but a few days ago I succeeded and finally got my permit. I believe I am the first commander to have visited.

This fiercely independent system has two stations, however. One, also simply named Dini, is independent (LTT 198 Order). The other is Empire controlled. The balance of power appears delicate.

I have always been distrustful of the Empire, and it is sad to see that such a unique culture could get swallowed up by the Empire. I desire to try and stem the tide; but it is not going to be easy. The biggest problem is that it is impossible for anyone to visit unless they invest a good deal of time building trust with the Order, so I am pretty much on my own. In a way it is nice to have a system to all to myself, however, I fear that before long one of the galaxy's last remaining theocracies will disappear forever.

After all the effort to get there, I am left with a bit of an empty feeling. It could be years before I see a fellow commander in LTT 198, if ever, and although it's kind of cool to share your name with a planet, it's sad that I cannot share my new home with anyone. Kind of typical, when I think about it.

I'll be seeing you, but probably not in LTT 198.

Commander Dini out.
