A comment in a recent post got me wondering

how many forum users are posting from work...

I wonder if work related aggression has anything to do with the level of criticism thrown back and forth between users(forum pvp)

Pirates vs traders
Open vs solo
Grinders vs idealists
Rp vs reality
Fdev fans vs the complaints crowd
Combat vs everyone else

Just to list a few contentious topics that draw emotional responses far above what is necessary.

This also furthers my theory that fdev tolerates the negativity here because they know how frustrating elite can be, some commanders just need to vent...

It's safe to say that a lot of users browse/post from work. You can see in posts sometimes when a users responds by "Have to check when I get home"...
Also I believe some of the posts reflect the type of day a person is having at work, bad day equals argumentative responses, good day at work will result
in a positive or even a fun post.
Some people used to go to the Odd Thread for a bit of time out from bad day at work and seek a bit of stress relief, usually on Mondays.
Personally, I browse/post on the forums on the second computer while in supercruise. While I am at work I am limited to a 7 inch Galaxy W.

Heh, I wish I was allowed. Work blocks all forum or message board based stuff as well as most non-work relates sites... Also I'm always way too busy at work :p

It's possible. However, communities like PvE, PvP, Immersionists and Non-Immersionists will always fight each other for different features or reasons of the game. One side will agree something like "yes, this feature will fit nicely with the game" and the other side "no, this feature will ruin the game". For example, the ship transfers almost divided the ED community, because people wanted delays and not instant transfers.

Every video game has competition, which is healthy. Then again, PvPers and PvEers also have different opinions on how the game should be played. There are those that wish to have fun with friends and only have NPCs to kill. Then there are those who wish for both types of play-styles, while maintaining a good PvP experience in the game. Unfortunately, most of the CQC player-base is either empty or rare, while not promoting anything good such as importing your PU ship into CQC without losing any rebuys. This is very bad, which is probably the source of why both communities have been aggressive towards each other. Even if you look at pirates, there seems to be very little development for that role-playing experience. Most players will either run away or fight back, giving them no choice but to kill the victim for various reasons. If the victim was a PvEer and was enjoying his ship, there is a chance he could complain here or on reddit about the pirate. This is where both communities begin to hit a nerve.

Work-related frustration may be the cause of the arguments caused in ED communities. However, it may just be the way they experience the game and how they object to whatever killed/annoyed them.

Currently on lecture of material science in University. I will probably go insane before this professor can go through all types of cellulose, molecular structure for them and what chemical and physical properties different structures give them.

I do pretty regularly.

Haven't really considered whether the state of the work day affects the way I post. I'll have to start paying attention to that.

I will inform my boss that it's all his fault and that there is nothing wrong with the game.
I advice everybody who is playing this game and sees a problem to quit there jobs, there's the problem.
And while we're at that also throw your wife and children out, they're also a source of relation related
aggression witch does this beautiful game a lot of harm.

How much do you think you know of reality? My friend, let me tell you, reality is an RP. Psychology 101.

Voted the 'short/quick posts' option.

I really need to balance it better, working really affects my ability to troll! :D

Yep, always at work! Tech support, so I'm a keyboard warrior in between getting people to restart their PCs.

If I was at home, I'd be playing instead :D

The vote very much confirms how the time between x-mas and new year felt here: through a number of previously active threads, you could see the tumbleweed roll...
