Homer's The Odyssey is a story of Greek gods and monsters and Odysseus's 20 year EPIC JOURNEY from Ithaca to Troy and back.
(not to be confused with the Roman retelling of the same story but with the protagonist Ulysses)
Each pit-stop for Odysseus corresponds to some mythical drama.
Now because our stars are named after many of these old stories, myths, legends, it is no coincidence that you can't swing a sidewinder around in the core-systems without hitting a system name that also connects to some Greek mythology.
Naturally, our creative pareodiella makes a connection for us when it comes to the certain aspects of the lore of the Elite Dangerous galaxy.
So for Raxxla hunters our pareodiella goes nuts, is it a map? does one use economical jumps, are we to listen to the whispers in witchspace between systems for clues??????
Of course, there is no indication that The Odyssey was intentionally transposed by the authors of the game, if so, it would all then depend on how well researched Homer's story was, which versions were used and which spellings of the place names and characters, and going off some of the gaps I difficulty filling, I don't think it was an intentional goal of the devs that such a path was conceived for us to follow.
Regardless, we can still follow Odysseus on his Journey to some degree.
The 10 years in Troy, where he breaks the siege with a Wooden Horse (yeah, he's THAT person), Blinding a cyclops (who no longer has eyes to see), to the edge of the world marked by A STONE, and waking the dead in the house of hades,
To following Jason and the argonaughts trip past the psirens and Charibdis, being tricked by two trickster daughters of gods, sometimes called Witch's, and being imprisoned by one of the Witches for 7 years in a magical place. And that Witch's "Space" is described as Navel of the world surrounded by all the seas of the world.......no NO stop deluded yourself.....
Anyway for your enjoyment,
here is an incomplete list of locations, as well as some additional tidbits, for example, the cyclopes were never mentioned by name by Homer in his story, but later storytellers did - hence Brontes is on my list, but if one is to be strict, there is no System name for cyclopes even for the are real-world locations, rocks/islands around Sicily but EDDM didn't have a suitable system name (again, down to spelling which is not my forté). So make of this what you will.
