From what I understand, they already have complete funding from Gearbox. But they also want to allow for people to invest or back the game via Fig. It is a bit strange, yes, but I can't fault them for wanting additional funding at this stage.I think it's very strange that they are doing a fund raising campaign when they don't need to. The rationale given - that it brings fans and devs closer, and that it allows them to do that fan survey thing - is dubious. The same can be accomplished with a forum or social media account.
Was never a massive fan of Homeworld, but I have fond memories of playing the first one.
QFT.As long as they go with the classic Homeworld control method and not the Homeworld 2 one I'll buy this. After release not going anywhere near fund-raising.
Considering the game isn't due until 2022, Epic Game Store might even not exist anymore at that time. How long till the sell out to epic after being crowd funded?
It's free stupid money with no obligations attached. From what I understand, they already have complete funding from Gearbox. But they also want to allow for people to invest or back the game via Fig. It is a bit strange, yes, but I can't fault them for wanting additional funding at this stage.
