Horizon: Dev confirmation needed on this ambiguous topic.

I've been seeing a lot of talk regarding this new season of updates, will the devs or a dev please put in some input about this whole debacle.

Does the entire planetary landing concept "Horizons" include these eventually?

- Airless worlds
- Atmosphere worlds
- Gas giants
- Water/liquid worlds
- Inferno worlds
- desert and barren but exotic worlds
- Frigid worlds
- outdoor earth like planets

I understand that AT FIRST airless worlds will be unlocked, will all of these other planet types be eventually 'unlocked' as they are finnished in this "Horizon: new season of updates" " Expansion"

OR

Will some worlds like outdoor earth like be locked to another season of updates and people will have to pay for that too?

Needs clarfication, i saw a lot of people asking this.

I would like to know too :)

How many expansions do we have to buy till we can explore all planet types?

It took 28 pages of repeatedly asking Michael Brookes that question before we got a straight answer. I'm sure you can figure out which one it is ;)

Well, Michael said no earth-likes or atmospheric, but what about just gas giants? Are those also too difficult?

If that truly is the case then literally getting the expansion pass now should be the most cost effective solution.

That depends. If Season 3 will make all planets possible and 4 and 5 for instance isn't to your liking.

I'd rather not think further ahead than that.

Thinking Frontier, things must be scientifically backed up (which is good, imo). So everything with an atmosphere is (at first) off limits, because it needs a lot of extra thinking and work (heat shields for entering, angle of descent etc etc). So what will be left is the rocky planets and icy stuff. Inferno worlds will be too hot to land on. Only rocky and icy worlds still means 50% of all bodies, so there's enough for everyone.

Wait for the bargain bin sale in a few years, when they have all the content in. No sense to pay a premium to be bored, if past actions are any indicator......
(yes, I understand *some* of you have a higher tolerance for tedium).

If it will be another expansion per year and the game has a 10 year plan then obviously it will be worthwhile to get the lifetime expansion pack... if you believe FD will keep the game funning for that period and producing expansions you want to play.

It all comes down to what faith you have in FD.

Some believe they are a bunch of evil liars that only intend to con people out of their money and they can not buy the expansions at all and really don't feel the need to come and tell us all about it. Particularly don't bother with "the game is rubbish, I never play and won't buy the expansion" because why are you even on the forums? Seriously, move on.

Personally I bought the lifetime expansion pass back during premium beta so I'm in full on smug mode right now.

But everyone - just work out for yourself if buying this expansion/lifetime pass/paint job/whatever is worth it and then do that. People will have different answers based on their experiences so far and that's fine... just don't feel the need to tell us all!

We can scoop fuel from a star's corona going at 0.1, I'm sure our ships can do without worrying about heat shields and angle of descent.

The latter, according to Michael himself.

If so then that is some amount of huge i am afraid. The blurb for PL only has 1 small mention of AIRLESS worlds. It doesnt mention that this is only PL part 1. So they will expect us to pay full price for Planetary Landings DLC when we are only getting part 1 of planetary landings. And we have to pay yet again for part 2.

I really cant quite believe this is happening... very disappointed David....

The only way i could accept the above about splitting PL into 2 parts is if what they are actually doing is making part 2 about...

Walking around spaceports/stations/ships, first person view on air worlds, inhabited etc first person Missions possibly etc. So then this is a different type of expansion and not exactly Planetary Landing part 2.

If it is something like that then i can live with it :) We kinda need someone from FD to confirm this because in all honesty if they are just making PL part 2 the exact same as PL part 1 except on air worlds then thats a ripoff.
