Horizons Horizon Download and File size

Hi guys! So i have the StandAlone version of elite dangerous and i was thinking of buying Horizon, my question being:
Once i buy Horizon do I have to download it through the launcher? If yes how much would the update be? Im on one of those crappy metered connection and can't afford to use a lot GBs (The 2.1 update was roughly the 40% of my available internet [cry].

You will install it through the launcher. It's about 8GB in total. There could be some files that are the same as your existing version and if so the game installer will copy those so that the actual final download could be less than 8GB.
If you know somebody who lives near you that already has Horizons you could copy the files via a USB stick to your PC and then do the final install via the launcher.

If you have the 2.1 update, you already own Horizons....

I'm not sure how much of an incremental download size there would be - as long as you downloaded 1.6 64-bit - I expect that a lot of the files are common to both.

I'm pretty sure that elite 64 and horizons share exactly the same files (it's the same folder anyway), so if you use the 64bit client, you should't have anything to download.
Never double checked this though, check if you folder is a little more than 8GB now.

PS: one thing i'm 100% sure is that a 1.6 account can run on a horizons folder.
