Horizons Beta 5 better Performance!?

Could be Placebo, but it felt a little bit better. This is rising my hopes for next week!

Anyone else experiencing something good/bad?

What are all this increasing of betas? Horizon should be Beta 3, here we are already in Beta 5.(??????)

I thnik this beta #5 is the best VR has ever been with ED.. smooth in sapce/ss.. finally i believe the software is testing the compute limit of my GTX970 and not some software imposed glitch limit :)

I upped my settings back to 1.0 SS and full HMD quality, with Ultra shadows. It seemed to make little (negative) difference to my frame rate. I seem to be perpetually on that borderline between legibility and judder.

I get the niggling feeling there's something else that drags down the frame rate that's independent of these settings - memory usage for instance (at least, on my GTX 970). I notice there's a judder when I return to the game after viewing the galaxy map, for example.

At any rate, I'm more or less back to my pre-horizons frame rate, so things are working well. I get periods of super smoothness, and at other times slight or significant judder for a few moments.

I just experience lots of judder when exiting orbital cruise into glide mode. As soon as the message "glide mode complete" is shown the judder goes away. In Beta 5 this judder is a little better than Beta 4 but it's still there and quite annoying.

Everything else seems pretty smooth in game, no noticeable slow down or stutter.

The judder in supercruise seems to have gone away with the latest beta, but I've only been in supercruise about 3 or 4 times (mostly I was having a nerdgasm flying around the moon Panes). The judder in supercruise in earlier betas was unpredictable (sometimes it wouldn't happen for a while, then bam - severe judder in deep space) so I'll need to fly around more to definitely know it's been fixed.

I'm getting the supercruise FPS drop outs in BETA 5 but I didn't get them in BETA 3. So there is something wrong with the game not my ADM drivers. I go from 180 fps to 5 fps in under 20 sec. And we still don't have a crossfire profile for this game.

I tried it out last night, and it was the smoothest experience I've ever had. There is still the judder from OC to glide mode. Everything else, even RES sites (hazardous) were smooth. It was the first time I felt awed by the experience since my first time trying the rift with E: D.

I'm using 0.5 SDk, ss at 1.0, hmd quality max, everything else at medium or lower. I didn't want to mess with the settings since I was enjoying the experience so much.

I went from High setting with SS at 1.5x with 0.5 down to Low settings with 0.8.

I so far haven't been able to get the Oculus Switcher to work on my machine either. I am no longer able to get 0.5 to work on my machine, period.

Hi Guys, I couldn't get the switcher to work after a clean install of Win 10. However..... 0.8 works fine in steam VR, all you have to do is set your primary monitor to 75hz, even if that's a much lower resolution you need. That eliminates all judder in SteamVR and you can go on into the game client and set the res for what you want. It works perfectly, and no hassle, give it a go.

Hello, I have the same problem, you just have to open the Oculus configuration window on your screen (by double-clic the icon on bottom right of your screen), and then you will be able to switch on your oculus. I don't know why but it work in that way.

For some reason this doesn't work well for me. I get a little judder every second like clockwork, even at SSx1.0 (I normally run ED at SSx1,5). Setting my monitors to 75Hz makes no difference.

In SLI with both GPU's enabled same story. Almost looks like something is polling every second that is causing this.

(with latest nvidia drivers, win10, runtime 0.8, gtx970)

may be worth trying again in horizons, i haven't needed to use Steam VR, just change monitor resolution to 75hz, launch game, select hmd from graphics option and then all i needed to do was change to full screen from windowed and then all is good.
