News Horizons Beta progress

The team are still hard at work on the Horizons beta, including yesterday and today (Sunday). A huge thanks to the team for this, and for those that sent us pizza. Unfortunately the issues last week have compressed the timescales, but the game is looking ever better. This has put the Tuesday beta release at risk, and though Tuesday is still theoretically possible, in all likelihood it will be in the following few days before we can release it.

While playing today I took this video (unedited) – an extra ‘sneak peek’ – landing a Vulture outside Kaleri Oasis in the Teppani system and deploying an SRV– with me messing around in solo. Again some issues, which I won’t list here.

crunchy pizza to go with that crunch time!!

Deadlines are deadlines and crunch is crunch. My heart goes out to the stressed out devs working away over the weekend!!
Love to you people!!

I don't know how the rest of this multi-national community feel. But my personal vote is, let the day slip.
And let the devs get some rest.

I'll keep it simple.

Rest good. Make brain work normal.

Too much stress makes brain work bad.
Lack of sleep makes brain work bad.

crunch is stress and lack of sleep.
too much crunch no good for brain.

Hi David,

THX for all the hard work of you and the team.

One short question, I`m one of those plaqued with constant black screens in hyperjump, I`ve read your comments why you had to switch to 64 bit. Does this mean, I`ll probably have to wait for Horizons to being able to play again?

Yeah, let the day slip, don't worry about it! Remember it's not a sprint, it's a marathon. And there's still 9 years to go on that 10 year plan :)

Thanks for update. It'll be ready when it's ready, and I can't wait.

And much appreciation to team working overtime to try and get this done for us asap :-D

Edit: Just watched the sneak peak and wow! Looking so good, and so nice to see things in a way to get a good size perspective.

Actually...there is always 10 years on that plan as far I've understood. They just keep on adding things to the list for the future. :)

Thanks David! Did NOT expect to get another peek this time on a Sunday! That's dedication!

I'm guessing the texture streaming is one of the issues that needs to be sorted based on the video. ;)

I feel its gonna be on friday again :(

Also, while the footage is awesome, i must say i don't like, that despite the fact, that there is no atmosphere, you can hear sounds of the spaceport/settlement/structure. That really broke the immersion for me. And i hope it's something that can be removed.

Let me guess. Textures don't look good when close?

Wow! This looks totally awesome. From the footage I am guessing (or hoping) that we will be able to land on the pads, decend into the hanger, deploy SRV and then drive out through a tunnel (There is a tunnel exit in the landing pad structure). The station keeping our ship safe while we roam the vast terrains and maybe perform missions for the station.
