Horizons Horizons Non-Planet Performance Question

Hello Commanders. I was wondering if installing Horizons will affect technical performance of spaceflight and non-planet regions of the game. I ask because I'm pretty happy with the performance of the game right now, and kinda worried getting Horizons will drop my FPS from a smooth 60 in space and non-expansion sections. Basically I'm curious whether Horizons installs a new version of the engine that demands more of hardware.

Keep in mind that I'm not talking about planet stuff found in Horizons, I expect that to run slower because of the greatly more complex geometry.

Thanks for any input, and for reference I'm running a desktop with an i5 4690 and a GTX 760.

I'm not sure, but when you install it you can still play the normal game - it doesn't overwrite the original game.

Oh I had no idea. So it must have an option to play 'vanilla' Elite or Horizons on the startup screen. Heck, its worth a shot then. Thank you!

it will just say play "elite: dangerous (32-bit)","elite: dangerous (64-bit)","elite: dangerous horizons"

You can set the graphic / performance options for Planetside and Space seperately. Horizons will not affect what your used to in Space.
