Horizons only pilot seeking more purpose to play with a player faction

I should be back in the bubble next week after a few months exploration and time in Colonia. Got or can get the remaining ships I want, so I need more purpose to my play.
CMDR Quain does not engage in piracy, assassinations of civilians or support the dogmatic approach of the Federation. The Imperials are more palatable outside of enforced slavery. Believes in the right to self determination so probably fits best with independent systems, democracies, cooperatives and similar.
Hates laser mining - don't ask.
Armed freighter work, CZs and HazRez bounty hunting all good and willing to fight for the right faction to defend their systems.
Exploring also good, but need a break from that activity right now.

What faction does CMDR Quain fit in for casual play?

If you're not ready to commit to a faction / squadron, you could join the numerous CMDRs who are 'turning the wheel' to see if there's anything to be activated in the Elite lore having to do with The Dark Wheel.

This is a pretty loose, easy-going community-initiative that encourages CMDRs do do what they like, to not give up the goals they have, and spend the amount of time of their choosing to move TDW forward as a common goal. You'll find me 'out there' in star systems quite regularly working the BGS, trading, and participating in combat- anything from CNBs to RESs to CZs to hit jobs. I've met some cool people in travels while pushing TDW. I have done plenty of things not related to TDW project, such as CGs and exploration trips during the life of this player-created and player-driven initiative.

No commitment to stay or sign up, just come have fun. Lots more info at the thread for TDW-initiative shown above.

Happy travels, CMDR.

EDIT:
If you peek at the thread I referenced, I recommend reading the very first post for some background. Then just hop over to the latest page for the most recent orders to see what we're up to.

Have you thought of an Independent Theocracy? Located in Imperial space, Sacra Oculus is a very small player group with amazing trade routes, fantastic exploration being on the edge of the "bubble", pristine mining, all the pew pew you could want, multiple elections, mission grinding and more. We were the closest system to the 1st Guardian site discovered and in another system we have a Ferry to a Guardian site which rotates once a week. https://discord.gg/XRMjkTyaZB for our Discord and deliberately out of date as we have more: https://inara.cz/minorfaction/76335/

How about that, I'm an '84 as you put it (zx spectrum). Unsure about the non consumer technology and religious aspect. Will consider and pay a visit to the faction base on my way back into the bubble.

Hehe This ole game is full of us '84s
BBC B and Amiga Eventually 486 PC

o7
Yeah, BBC B then Amiga for Frontier II, then as III was not released in the UK, a Hewlett Packard for Elite Dangerous followed by a Zoostorm gaming computer for subsequent updates and new seasons.

Ok will do. My exploration Krait Phantom is armed with.... Err.... a really low heat signature that's hard to target lock onto, 662MJ shields and a 70.5ly jump range for running away really fast 🤣
I fly totally unengineered. An Orca used to be my combat ship of choice. Ram the target with a satisfying "ding".

I left an Orca and Krait II behind in Colonia for when I pay another visit. I used the Orca for passenger missions, took a 'famous explorer' to Explorers Anchorage near Sag A*, and apart from being a bit long and catching the back on rocks, it's fast and brilliant at doing this:

I do like engineering projects for my ships.
