Newcomer / Intro Horizons vs Odyssey //Geological planet findings

Hello Commanders,
So I haven't gotten a true grasp on the new Exobiologist stuff. Back in Horizons you could just use an FSS on planet and see if it had Geo or Bio spots on it or just using a DSS to find these sites to see on a planet via the nav panel, but now with the new Odyssey setup how do you find spots for Exobioloist stuff and type and can you see them on nav panel as before?
Can someone explain how to do this as most videos don't make references between the new and old ways.

Thank you Commanders for any info or advice concerning...o7

Sorry I was also talking about trying to find the old geo and bio sites to farm materials for engineering mats for ships, as they seem to have disappeared as well...o7

If you see in the FSS that the planet has biological signals, fly to it and do the DSS. When it's done, you will see a "heat map" That represents areas where a certain life form can be found.
For bacterial growth (the patches on the ground) it's usually the entire planet. For rarer "plants" it can be only a certain portion of a planet.
In the top centre of the DSS screen you will see the type of lifeform the heatmap represents. You can cycle through the different biological signals, there. (I think it's by default the same keys or buttons that let you switch panel tabs left and right in the ship, but they may be bound separately).
As you switch between signals, you will see a heatmap in blue for each of them so you can go land there and find them in the area.

If there are any notable "points of interest" on the planet, they will be displayed in your navigation tab so you can target them and go there directly.
Geo sites are still there, too, maybe you've just been unlucky.

Basically Bio and Geo sites are no longer displayed in the Nav Panel.

Geological, Biological and the new Exobiologist stuff are all shown in the same way now. If you scan a planet in the FSS and you see it has some Geo or Bio sites, then you can go and map it. Once you map it you will get a Blue "heat map" showing you where the features can be found. Different types of the new things can be found in different locations and some specialise in certain areas, Tussocks like open plains, Concha like gulleys and ravines and Fungoida like more mountainous terrain.

You can find the features anywhere within the Blue areas. So for example Osseus can be found anywhere within the Blue areas here

Where as the Concha are more specialised and so are found in smaller areas

So the old small fields of Geological and Biological sites are no more, you can find them as above in the Blue areas that show up for them. They are still grouped together, but it's not the clearly defined areas that there used to be, they're more naturally spread out over the surface.

Just as a side note, at the moment there may still be a bug where the things you can shoot off of the Geo/Bio sites are only dropping one type of Grade 1 material.
