Hostage rescue ... and stuff

good moorning Devs, and everyone else.
today I would like to have a quick rant about hostage missions, that is: "liberate 8 hostages" or "liberate 6 precious gems" quests. I give these two as examples as I will use both of them later.

so first off.. I'm a big fan of these quests. I know that they are not massively popular with the community but I think thats because people struggle with them. I do not struggle with them. they are great.

here is my qualm.

Doing those quests it is possible to collect MORE than is required.. let us take precious gems for this example. So I am told to collect 6 say. but I actually collect 15.
they go into my cargo marked as 'haulage' because they are quest items.. all 15 of them.
when I hand in the quest it takes all 15 of the items out of my cargo. It does not reward me any extra for this.

now it would be nice if it DIDN'T take all 15, but just took 6 and left me the rest.. OR it took all 15 and rewarded me extra per extra item.

In this example I could hit a black market before handing in the quest and sell the extra precious gems there.. they are worth a lot, but I'm not going to get started on black market prices, I will leave that for another day.

however! dan dan daaaaaan

If I was to change the item in the example over to hostages, this selling up beforehand does not work. I assume because the extra hostages are marked as haulage it prevents you from handing them in at the search and rescue agent. this is a REAL shame for me, even though precious gems are worth a lot, it is the hostages that I am really after, hence 'rescue' in 'search and rescue'.

In fact, outside of these quests I cannot seem to find hostages ANYWHERE. I understand you can find them on wanted ships that spawn in supercruise but I have never found any, always just blank cargo holds.

So far I have never handed in a hostage at the search and rescue agent. a fact that pecks at me daily.

finally, It was be rather grand if the 'recover hostage' quests gave follow on quests, it kind of makes sense for me. a happy rescued hostage giving out some key location or bit of information as a thank you.

anyway. on the whole I am a big fan of these quests, it gives me a chance to do some LEGAL PIRATING (oxymoron warning), and loot some items that I would otherwise never encounter (trinkets of hidden fortune for example... which should be A LOT more expensive on the black markets). I simply put these suggestions forward in an attempt to improve on something already pretty damn good in the first place.
