Hostile Scan

I notice every time I enter a space station I am consistently 'hostile scanned'. Is this scanning by federal fighters/space station or is it something more serious than that?

My rear end twitches every time I see it as I expect to see my hard earned cargo go boom lol

You're usually getting scanned by the police officers, but sometimes players sit on the station just to mess with people.

Just be careful, coz I'm one of those pirates that would hide next to a station and scan for cargo ships with yummy goods in my Viper.

You were quite lucky in that video for the Cobra you were stalking to collide with the other ship, taking out the shields and most of the hull - if that hadn't happened how would you have rated your chances?

I'd already committed to taking him on before the collision - turned off silent running and deployed hardpoints. So I'd say 50-50 fighting a Cobra already in combat with another Cobra around Aulin Enterprise (where my Sidewinder had the maneuverability advantage).

This was during the Aulin Apocalypse by the way, I'd already took Cobras on head to head in a Sidey and won some, lost some, during that battle.

Back to the vid, I think bounty hunting is about striking when the target least expects it - using stealth and tactics. Just steaming in head to head all the time without trying different approaches gets old fast.

I think this is one of the problems I do have with E: D, all through the alphas and betas I've kind of discounted stealth and heat management as a viable option simply because the loss of shields and heat build up in silent running is to extreme 'psychologically' for me. Screw up the first shot of a stealth attack, and you're pretty much dead in the water as far as I can see? My personal combat approach is more '4-pips to sys, 2 to engines, use multi-cannons and pray the shields hold'.

Kudos for making stealth work though. :)
