hostile to federation...

I just became hostile to federation, and honestly it's really a huge mess as I am in federal space. Considering that I only traded some stolen goods a few times (got caught, paid the fine) it seems that by killing me on sight everywhere I go, and forever federation is a bit overreacting. Is there a way to raise the status or the only way to go is migrate to alliance / empire space (wherever it is)?

Seriously, isn't it a little bit too easy to become hostile, and isn't it a little bit too much being attacked on sight by every federal ship around?

I'd say you should point thine ship towards the Empire ;) lots of oppertunities here for people shunned in the Federation!

go for systems with outposts, they don't shoot at you. do some missions for the pro-fed factions and run away from the authorities.

Sounds like a small misunderstanding is all.

Come fly out to Volungu. It's Federation controlled and there's only two outposts out here with lots of work. We're near two great Independent Systems: Furbaide (This will be your smugglers den & black market contact), and 31 Aquilae (Independent Agriculture and Farmers). It's also next door to Liaedin, an Empire controlled system that seems to act as an Embassy of sorts for the Empire deep in Federation space. There's also a High Tech Federation system LHS 3505 with two outposts that carry the latest gadget and agri-medicine whatsits. It would be a good place for you to grind back up your rep (while continuing your black market smuggling tendencies.) ;)

Yeah probably feds didn't really liked my trunk full of miliary plans or experimental drugs ... will head to empire, found a nice planet with federation at jump range so I can try doing some mission for them and see if I can get them to like me again.

BTW how does it work when you become hostile, everybody shoots you on sight but if you shoot back you also get a bounty, that's a bit hilarious.

It's a delicate dance. I really hate taking a mission with a faction I'm trying to raise rep for, only to find out after the mission, it lowers it for another group I'm also trying to raise rep with.

I wish there was a system that showed you who you will gain and lose rep with as a result of the mission...

Also it seems that some missions are broken, raising and lowering the wrong things. I've seen faction raises for parties who were not even involved in the mission... I've also seen Famine go down by delivering personal & non lethal weapons. What did they do? use them to cull their population to stop the famine problem? *shudders*

Reading my mind, indeed I'm heading to Liaedin, now I stopped to chart a small unexplored system, then will resume the 24 LY trip. The little problem with the federation halted my path to upgrade the frameshift drive of my cobra so meh with stock drive takes time :)

As far as you losing rep so much, there has been a dev response in Gamma on this a while back that said that rep hits of scans should have been capped and it should no longer happen, so I'd say ticket it.

As far as getting rep back, it is possible, if you cared. I was very hostile to Feds and now I'm allied Lieutenant.

Keep in mind that Asp with A5 shields can safely take most of the hits from police, so you can pretty safely enter a hostile station. Do not go silent running and do not carry any illegal cargo though. Stations will allow you to dock, and on outposts you will not have a problem with. You will get interdicted by police a lot though so read my 4043-word guide on how to escape interdictions (link in my faq in my sig), if you are flying something slow and illegal.

Basically you are a potential terrorist, not wanted for any particular crime but hunted all the same. You can grind rep up...or you could load up and go out there a frag some fed scum.

Welcome to the Empire. But what comes to the hostile part, it's tricky somewhat - but you may well get missions from Outposts (they don't have cops swarming you) which could remedy the situation if you so desire.
