Newcomer / Intro Hostile with Feds

I have become hostile with the Federation and I have know idea why. How can I fix this and become neutral or friendly when I cannot dock at federation stations to do reputation gains for them. If I dock I get attacked due to being hostile..... I am friendly with the empire and neutral with the independents.... Help

Try going to outposts and pick up missions there. It might involve some work though.
Can you also build up rep through trading/selling exploration at an outpost run by a faction? I'm not exactly clear how the reputation with factions work.

As your rep with the minor faction in a system goes up, your rep with the main controlling faction also goes up. This means that when you've hit maxed rank with the minor faction you won't be able to increase rank with the major faction anymore, you need to move on if you want to increase rep with the major controlling faction. Trading/selling increases rep with minor factions, so I assume it'll increase the main faction standing as well.

So yeah, find an Outpost in Fed space and run missions or trade out of it. Don't do illegal stuff though.

Claiming your bounties and exploration data at a Fed Outpost will also help, you can get your bounty ships outside Fed Space so the cops dont harass you while you are hunting.

I have much easier and less time-consuming solution. Welcome to the Empire!

Getting rep from hostile to neutral is a hard work. You can easily spend a month on it.
The other solution, if you just started and are still in a sidewinder (aka you won't lose much) you can clear your save and start over.

I have just found out that my rep with Eravate (Independent Eravate Free) has become Unfriendly. I believe this has to do with the number of missions I've accepted and therefore abandoned -- e.g. find black box, kill pirates, but got intercepted by another ship offering a small payment if I abandoned the mission. So, when met with that pilot at the designated station to collect my small payment, reputations are affected.

Being Unfriendly, when I submit a docking request I get a comms like "Make it quick whatever business you have here, then leave.".
Docking request was granted nevertheless.
