Hosting player vs player events

PVP in Elite is in my opinion one the the best combat aspects in the game , however hosting tournaments can be a real pain in the .... with the trading away materials and the premo checks in the modulescreen .

What if we had a simple COVAS warning "warning overcharged munitions detected" if you get hit by a premium round , this would make tournaments allot more appealing for more cmdrs

Some way to distinguish between the synthed ammo types is needed since they added synth in the first place. But we are PvPers and hence a part of the community FDev doesn't want to deal with.
I don't believe they ever add this even though they are currently communicating a little more than before (which was no communication at all).

Removing premium ammo for weapons and making normal re-synth filling up the entire ammo pool (not 50% as it happens now) could also be a way.
this for open only yeah defo! but it will never happen , the COVAS warning is the best next thing , hosting pvp events is going to be so much easier and inviting for new cmdrs who want to dip their toe in some organized ship on ship action

This is gargantuan brain time. Also implementing an in-game Looking For Wing/Pilots wanted board would be a dank way of people finding people to wing with for various shennanys in game and events hosting.

PvPers have wanted a target Premiums Use indicator for YEARS... amongst others things. With PvP tournaments, the rules checks at the beginning of the fights are not as time consuming as the work adjudicators and streamers have to do. And then there is the time it takes to instance <screams inwardly>. In addition, because of the significant lack of balance and great disparity in ships and weapons, it is sometimes a lengthy process to create an event rules set that is satisfactory to most.

I wonder if the Premiums issue will come to the fore with Odyssey? Will Premium ammo for guns be an issue? Will people who do not PvP in ships but choose to PvP on foot better empathize with those who choose to gank currently? Will FDev generalize, from the fps aspect to better understand the ship PvPer's frustrations?

:)

This is a very humble request tbh, it shouldn't be too difficult to implement a much more sophisticated automatic rulecheck mechanism, for example a private group rules page adjustable by the PG owner.

Basically a series of checkboxes like:
seekers/packhounds allowed yes/no
healing weapons allowed yes/no
basic/standard/premium synthesis allowed yes/no
max skillbooster count
specific modules (guardian, power play), ship types allowed etc etc.

this warning should be easyish to implement but would help so many peeps with organisation of player vs player events , some events make you trade away mats so you can't use premo's that will hold allot of people back from joining. This is the best option for this problem

Not sure if this is as easily to implement as people seem to imply
We have corrosion announcement - but that is easier to register since it has certain effects on the target
We have damage bleeding through shields - again easy to register since it has a certain effect on target

But premium ammo? It's just a damage multiplier - so that means the info about premium ammo cannot be collected at target level, it has to be ferried from the shooter to the target.
And that might be a little more complicated (actually more than a little)

The game can register another player in instance and what weapons and modules they have on board. It really shouldn't be difficult to carry that on extra piece of data in with them.

Sure, but if it was something that could register on the client only, like corrosion - it would require only a client change to note that and present a warning to the commander.

If it is not, then it requires:
  • a client change to ferry that information (premium ammo) along with outfitting options, shield and hull status, hardpoints on.off etc
  • a server/networking change to take that information and make it available to other commanders
  • another client change to take that information and present a warning for the commander (either visual or a covas announcement as it happens for corrosion)

so yea, i'm not seeing that happening anytime soon

i have faith in @fdev we we all want it hard enough! , there is almost no content for pvp in elite so we have to create our own , this warning would be a great tool to make that ALLOT easier and therefore more inviting for cmdr's to dip their toe in some pvp
