Hotas Layout

Ok, now that we know that only the T.Flight 4 will be supported what are your ideas for button layouts,
obviously things will be alittle different for us console players because we won't beable to put uncomon functions on the keyboard,
and by not using the DS4 we forego the touchpad buttons and motion headlook so things are going to get pretty tight on the hotas.

..Im not keen on using a digital hatswitch for look around but what can we do?

I had a perfect layout planned out for the flight stick that I was hopeing to utilise but now im a little at a loss at what to do with the T.flight 4

Just gonna run the tutorials and make changes from the default as necessary until muscle memory kicks in. it probably wont to be too different from my old PC Hotas X set up except with one or two Alternate buttons.

I'm with Snowbeard, i'll just use the default Hotas 4 bindings and will make changes if required. I have no idea what the default bindings are.

Keep us DS4 users posted on how you like HOTAS, especially if you try the DS4 in comparison. I've not ruled out HOTUS yet, but I don't want to invest in it until after the "reviews" are in.

I always used the radar to locate stuff, that will be what my brain does by default. I plan to make look around a feature of the stick with a shift button. The hat switch will be thrusters for me, with pip control on a shift button.

All this is just theory, when I get into the training I will play around with things. I have three blank paper HOTAS sheets to scribble on with pencil to see how it goes =]

Sounds affective, I'm out exploring 99% of the time so i like the freedom of looking out of my windows when flighing about but using the stick with a shift key for look is a good idea

there are some things you need access to immediately like primary and secondary weapons, thrusters in all vectors, boost and possibly chaff. those stay on your quick buttons. and then there's the stuff that does not need a quick twitch response like landing gear and system scanners that can be set up using and "alternate" hold button. once you set your priorities you should have a good idea on how to bind your Hotas or DS4. and for gods sake don't have landing gear and boost on the same binding :)

Well, to be honest, what they did with the dualshock 4 is nothing short of amazing.
The ways they used both the touch pad and the sixaxis motion sensor is genius.
From what i've seen, i could see myself getting used to play with a dualshock 4 cause the bindings seem very user friendly. [up]

I'm not gonna eBay the hotas yet but I'm already familiar with a controller and I think the ds4 layout with four extra buttons is the way to go tbh!

I just hope the vita layout is good!

Plus there is vibration which actually is better for me. I want it but the DS4 does seem to be the way to go.

I've been waiting for an xbox hotas for an age! But even though I've got a t flight 4 I'm starting on Tuesday on ds4 lol :) 👍

I bought a neat little table perfect for mounting the HOTAS 4 with a keyboard in between and even enough room left over for a brew, biccies and MAYBE even a Snickers! :D

As for button layouts, I'm going to trawl some PC user threads aound see what looks like a good setup. There was a picture you could print and manually fill in for button mapping the HOTAS (for reference rather than going through ingame menus) on another thread. Can't find it now :S

I'm not sure that im fussed by the dualshock feedback it feels really crude compared to the XB1 controllers 4 rumble motors... but other than that I am really torn on the DS4 vs Hotas deccision

I'm starting with what I know on a controller then I'll fire up the hotas :) I've tried it on oOlite and it did feel awesome and very very natural hence why it's not on eBay ;)

I think that may have been me? I have a blank guide to scribble on with a pencil (well I printed three out whilst I work out what I want!)
